Posted - May 03 2008 : 11:32:07 AM I sure have missed you gals. Thank you so much for the letters and thoughts. We've been dealing with losing some strong women in both my and my husband's families. Full lives, fantastic women leave such a hole when they have to go.
Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things and chatting with my "other family" of farmgirl friends. You have been with me through this in my heart. It may take a while yet before I can be a "regular" again, but know I think of you all so much.
Keep clucking! Michelle

Posted - May 21 2008 : 04:57:16 AM Hi Michelle,
So sorry to hear about the losses in your family. Your Aunt Ruth and MIL sound like they were truly inspirational to you. Both my grandmothers were like that for me.

Posted - May 13 2008 : 10:27:16 PM Thanks Maryjane Lee. My "Aunt Ruth" passed...one of the inspirations in my life for "farmgirl at heart" ideals. And lost my mother-in-law, who accidentally put the idea in my head that making wine would be fun...and it is. I started it for her...she had such a great story about her "farmgirl" friends coming over and helping her with winemaking, laughter, and big hearted goodness. It is tough to lose anyone, but really tough when they have been so inspirational.

Posted - May 11 2008 : 10:54:59 AM *giggle* Yes, Alee, I've got my "anti-fairy" gear ready to go. Much as I hate herbicide, the targeted "wand" really helps, and as invasively evil as DT is, I feel a bit justified at how much faster it is to skip along and zap so many at a time without harming the rest of the natural plants I want to nurture.
This year I'm going to flag and catalogue more of my wild flowers and collect 5% or less of the seed on some varieties. Going to try my hand at propagating a wild cut-flower garden either for farmer's market bouquets or seed packaging...depending on the success. I like the idea of getting a separate wildflower garden area so I don't over-harvest the naturally wild ones. I have, of course, MJ to thank for the idea. On the wild-flower tour last year at MJF, I saw where one of her friends was doing it, and I thought it was brilliant.

Posted - May 10 2008 : 11:07:38 AM Michelle- Do we need to hum the "Death" song for the Dalmation Toadflax? Are you all geared up like you were last year with your wand-o-death?

Posted - May 10 2008 : 10:19:44 AM Thanks all! It is good to be back. I think we're getting to the happy memories stage, which I'm so glad to get to. DH is doing extra farm work now. My yearly nemesis...dalmatian toadflax spraying. Grr. If only I could dig 'em all out.
I love the little red hex patches you all have. I'm sure you're all having fun with the different projects. What a good idea.
Yes, we will definitely have to meet for more strawberries and strawberry lemonade. Lots of reasons to get together and have much needed giggles and woman time. Thanks all for the positively wonderful welcome back. :)
