so I thought I'd reintroduce myself here and give a little update for those who remember me. I've lurked a little here and there, but have been so busy there's been no time to play on the forum.

I'm a suburban farmgirl near Tampa, but I grew up on a Kansas wheat/soy bean farm as a kid with chickens, horses, ducks, turkeys, cats and dogs. I'm married to a youth pastor, work full-time at a school as an instructional assistant, am going to college on-line full-time to finish my psychology degree and get my teacher certification, we've recently started our own business, and I am mom to two kids DS-13 and DD-8 and have an unexpected surprise little one on the way (due in September).

We currently live in a subdivision, so my critters are limited to a cat and a dog. I'm attempting container gardening on my lanai, but haven't been very successful in past attempts, so we'll see if I do better this year. So far I have tomatoes, red bell peppers and egg plant. I'm going to be planting some herbs and spinach next.

I love to sew, knit, cook and do yardwork but barely have time to do any of them these days. My recent quest has been to start to detox our suburbia home as best as I can, and do what I can to live green, which is hard to do sometimes because of our fast-paced lives, finances, and "convenience".

I know it got a little long, but that's what I've been up to. I am going to try to hang around a little more once school's out in a few weeks. I come here for ideas even when I don't post, and miss hanging out around here!

I'll be taking a leave from my school position next year, so I can stay home with the baby and finish my degree

Alee, we just found out on Tuesday that we're having a boy. We haven't agreed on a name yet, but we're working on it. (We can't agree on a nursery theme either...LOL)

As far as detoxing our home and trying to live green...I've been trying to air out the house at least once a week (to get the toxins from paint, carpet, etc. out as much as possible). My "quest" this week is to de-flea the place without chemical use. Our dog has gotten a mess of fleas, and our kitty is dealing with them some too. I do NOT want to go buy chems from the vet, so I'm looking into what all to try...starting here, I remember a thread from a long time ago about it.

Hi, and welcome back, Katee! Congrats on your unexpected surprise...I was one of those myself away back when...ten years after my folks had three girls and thought they were done! Sounds like you are very busy indeed. Keep us posted on your efforts to detox your home and live green.
