Posted - Apr 22 2008 : 05:50:49 AM Hi! I'm a new subscriber to the MJF magazine and just discovered your website/forum. Very excited to have found you! I am 51 yrs old, married and have a 17 yr old son. We live in a small farm (16 acres) in Gettysburg,PA. We have 3 dogs:a retired Greyhound, a Terrier mix and an English Mastiff. We also have 3 horses and a mule: 2 Haflinger geldings, a Leopard Appaloosa gelding and a molly Belgian Mule named Becky! I would eventually like to raise sheep for wool.
My current craft passion is crochet. I would like to learn to knit. I also sew and make soft sculpture dolls. I used to weave but don't currently have a loom.
Look forward to chatting with you!

Posted - Apr 23 2008 : 05:14:33 AM Welcome Kim, glad you found this site. I have been in your area on a Toby Bus tour. We toured the National Military Park. You live in a beautiful area. I have tried crocheting, but not for long. My mother does it--she makes lace trim for pillowcases that she has embroidered. I like to do different types of crafts and sew a little (not make clothes). I made a lot of the quilted purses with the pockets inside. Now I'm making aprons. Hope you make lots of new friends here.

Also to post pictures you need to load them onto another site, like photobucket or a blog or something so they have their own "url" address. then you simply put photo url here * please note I put a space after the 'g' in the bracket so you could see the coding. Other wise a broken picture link would show because the forum would be trying to load a picture.

Thanks for the info on posting pics! And that is exactly where I'm having my problem with knitting, the casting on. There are so many gorgeous patterns I really want to learn. If I can't teach myself like I did with crochet, I'm going to find some lessons!

Hi Frannie, I love Annapolis! I'm originally from Baltimore but we moved out to Ellicott City,MD when I was 12. Did you ever go to the Antique stores in Ellicott City? I love those shops.
I haven't figured out yet how to post pics but when I do, I'll post some of the dolls I've made...
Thanks!

Hi, Kim. I love Gettysburg! Many fond memories of college history trips. Was your land involved in the battle?
No, we're located in between the battlefields that are in the town and Cashtown, where one of the early battles got it's start. The Cashtown Inn was on the SciFi channel show 'Ghost Hunters' about a month ago. Confederate troops would have come thru our area but no battles that we know of!

Thanks so much for the link! I've been trying to learn from a book and it's not going well....LOL, that's putting it mildly. I'm so used to crocheting and having two needles and yarn in my hands just seems to be too much for my brain to handle.
I hope to make my first scarf by the Fall....hopefully of this year!
