Posted - Apr 17 2008 : 1:01:25 PM Hi everyone!! I'm new on here...actually, I've visited several times over the last few months, but I'm just now posting myself. I love you all already!!!!
My husband and I and our 4 children live on a small farm. Although, I was a city girl when we first moved here 5 years ago...I have quickly become a 'farmgirl at heart'!!!! We have chickens, cows, pigs, goats...and I think that's it...unless my husband has added something else that I don't know about yet. We have a HUGE garden that I LOVE!!!! We would love to raise enough food to put up for the year, but so far, we haven't been able to do that....at least with produce.
I love gardening, sewing and reading (if there's still time). We home school so life is very busy around here!!! Our kiddos are 14, 10, 7, and 3.
You all have already been a wealth of information and inspiration...I'm looking forward to getting to know you all more!!
Have a super day!!!!
Christy

Posted - Apr 18 2008 : 10:13:08 AM Welcome Christy! I'm in Missouri too, with four children (ages 13, 10, 7 and 4) and will be homeschooling again this fall. What part are you in? I'm in the northeast part near Hannibal. Great to have you here on the 'farm'!
Blessings.... Sarah

Posted - Apr 18 2008 : 09:41:25 AM Hi Christy! Welcome, I'm pretty new here too. I am excited to hear about your goats also, may I ask what kind you have? We have two Alpines and I am totally in love with them! One of them, Daisy is due to kid sometime in June I think, and boy is she getting rolly polly! Must be something like 14 of them in there :) It will be my first expirence with kids (goat kids anyway!) and I am sooo excited! |

Posted - Apr 17 2008 : 3:54:45 PM Hi Christy!
Welcome to the forum! You farm sounds great! I am sure with 6 people, you would need a huge garden indeed to put up enough food for the whole year plus eating some while it's fresh. But I bet it sure helps out the grocery budget to be able to put up as much as you do!
Looking forward to getting to know your more as well!
