Posted - Apr 15 2008 : 10:51:57 AM Hi there! I just found this site yesterday searching for some chicken info. I grew up with our own chickens, pigs, garden etc and my DH, 10 year old DS and I just moved into a new home we built on 100 acres and plan to do some of the same.
We already avoid processed and packaged foods for health reasons and we're hoping to grow more of our own food now. My son is planning a goat farm but I'm not yet sure how that will go! LOL

Your place looks real nice in that picture :) Roll on spring, eh? I hope our nice weather this week gets to you soon. This is the first real week of spring weather we've had. I've never been to NS, but would love to one day. It looks so wonderful and wild- I'd love to get up to Louisburg one day too :)
Enjoy the forum, it's loads of fun!

Miss Bee Haven, I blogged the entire process of building the house. My brother is in India so I really wanted to keep him up to date and it worked! We built the house mainly ourselves so it was slow going but well worth it.

Posted - Apr 16 2008 : 07:33:10 AM Hi Alicia,
So nice to see another Canadian on here! Welcome, welcome! You'll really enjoy this forum, the ladies on here are so warm and helpful. Ask them anything, somebody is bound to know something!
I hear you about spring dragging its heels! We've had a very cold spring here in Ontario, but today is supposed to get to 15C, so you will probably have some of our nice weather by the weekend!
Your home looks awesome, lots of potential. We visited Nova Scotia very briefly several years ago, and had a great time. I'd love to come back, and see more of it. We didn't have much time, and it seemed like we were just racing around trying to see everything in a short period of time.

Posted - Apr 15 2008 : 11:23:17 AM Yikes, my photo was way too big. Sorry.
DH and I are both from NS. We are living near where he grew up. My parents are about an hour away which is great too. It is pretty here. We like the rural life and not having any neighbors. We're about an hour outside Halifax so we can get any ammenity there.
Currently we have our son, Isaac, two Chesapeak Bay Retirevers, Blake and April, and a cat, CHarcey. I'm thinking our first animal addition will be chickens but DS has been saving his money for a purebred Nubian kid so we won't be able to put that off for long!
