I ran across the magazine a few days ago, went back to the bookstore to find the book, called the farm today to order all the back issues and signed up here a few minutes ago. Now I am ready to settle in and read a lot of posts on here and get to know this group!
Yesterday morning, I closed on my new house. It is an 1892 Victorian in Sparta, TN. Before I found out anything about MaryJane's Farm, I already knew that I wanted to make this a cozy, comfortable home where people would enjoy coming to. I also knew that I wanted to "live green" with regards to cleaning products, etc. Since my new home is on an acre, there will be room for lots of flowers, fresh vegetables and my new hobby - raising honeybees. Also in my area are about 30 organic farmers with everything from dairy to herbs, which I am very excited about. This way, I can eat healthy while I am learning to do a lot on my own. Can you imagine why I was so excited to find out about Mary Jane and all of this wonderful information? I am a Farmgirl WANABEE and didn't even know it!!! Even better...although I can't move into my house until November 1, right now I am living in Coeur D'Alene, ID...right down the road from Moscow and the Farm! Guesss where I'll be going soon??? I am in the Scrapbook industry and do shows all over the country. My plan is to turn my new home into a scrapbook retreat where women can get together for a few days to relax, have fun, eat great food and work on their crafts. Hope to talk to many of you soon!

Every time I read a post on here, it makes me want to get to know each and every person in detail. I already feel such a connection to this group! As far as scrapbooking goes, I will be glad to answer any questions that anyone has. It is the one area of my life that IS organized (maybe because it is all neatly packed in boxes right now!) If you read my last post, you can see that there are a lot of things I want to learn about and would like information from anyone who wants to give it. I am actually a Florida girl and only went to Idaho in January as part of a contract agreement. I am ending up in TN by accident. I was browsing on a website one night (historicalhomesforsale.com) and the house just TALKED to me. Everything fell into place, so I know I am on the right path. Being close to my family in Florida is an added bonus. I am in Phoenix right now for a show, but will be back in Idaho for one more week, starting Sunday, to finish packing. I hope to go to the farm on Tuesday. I will report back on what I find! Finding this site helped everything fall in place for me. I have goals and dreams just like everyone else on here does, and none of it seems overwhelming anymore now that I have found such an awesome support system. Any way I can return the favor, just let me know!!!

Hello Lisa!!
A great big welcome to you! And I have to say right off that I am amazed by all that you've accomplished - way to go! You are obviously an organized, hard-working farmgirl. And above all, I wish you great success in your new life in Sparta. By the way, how did you end up there? It's a long way from Idaho :) .............
I'm looking forward to reading more posts from you, & learning how you got to where you are now.
Best regards,
Melanie

Welcome, Lisa! How wonderful to be so close to the farm...we all want to visit and you get to!... and your new location in TN. sounds like it will be grand as well. I have been scraping for 10 years, was a Creative memories consultant and use to have retreats in my home and teach classes. I even did several week long "Mom Camps" and everyone loved those. You get so much done!.. so I can tell you your idea will be a huge success. Of course, being in the industry you know that already. I'm constantly amazed at how they continue to come up with such new, cute, and different ideas.
We look forward to getting to know you better and anything you need to know about anything...well, these farmgirls know it!!! just ask 'em!
BEE blessed,
Kim

Lisa, you certainly are one of us. I found Mary Jane and the farm girls the same way as you---bought the mazazine, sat down at the computer, loggged onto the website and was "home". The most dangerous side-affect is -----You will not want to do anything but read the post and for me, go out and copy these women.

Welcome---I feel the pull to scrap---

Hey Lisa! Welcome on board. Tennesee is one of the prettiest places I have visited. My DH grew up in Hot Springs AR, when we lived there we went to TN often. Also, love Couer D'Alene. I am in the process of scraping for the first time. We just bought our first house in Dec, and want to do a scrapbook of all the renovation and such. It seems daunting to me, but am looking forward to it. See ya around the forum! Simply, Julia

Thanks for welcoming me into the fold. I am at a scrapbook show in Indiana right now, but I would rather be staying here on the computer reading all the posts in this chatroom. What a diverse and interesting group of women (and men) I have been lucky to find!
I travel extensively (32 shows a year!) but hope that by buying this house in TN I will be able to slow down a little (or at least follow down a different path). For now, my job involves traveling from show to show representing several different manufacturers (Sizzix, K&Company, Fiskars, Making Memories and Xyron to name a few). I hope to be able to take the knowledge I have gained over the past several years and apply it to having a wonderful retreat for women from all over to come to and have a great experience. As far as my personal goals, these are a few things I would like to learn about when I move in to the house...I want to eliminate toxic chemicals from my home and yard (cleaning products, pesticides, etc) and live as organically as possible. I want to have wildflowers, herbs and a vegetable garden. I want a couple of chickens and a rooster. And a Maine Coon cat. And have honey hives. I want to learn about aromatherapy. I make candles and soap and would like to be able to make a small living doing this. I decorate cakes and cookies and want to do this for fun. I am developing an obsession with alpacas and just bought the lot next to my house in the hopes that I can raise a few of these (after I win the lottery or find a way to finance this dream). Any information you can give on any of these topics would be appreciated! Lastly, I have been so blessed in my life with a great family, twin 21 year old sons who promise to do a lot of the renovations for me, good friends and even an ex-husband (since 1986) who has turned into a wonderful friend over the years, and so has his wife. I would like to find a way to "pay it forward" and help other women who might need a hand. I know that several were stretched out to me when I needed it. And in the SECOND month, I would like to...
