Hi everyone, my name is Amelia and Im not really from Seattle, just about 20 min. away. But I am so glad I found you all. I read Maryjanes book a while ago and just found the website about 2 days ago. I live in a little city and I am determined to start a garden this year. We just moved into our house and there are tomatoes, an apple tree, grapes, raspberries, blackberries and lots of roses and other flowers. I have never really been into gardening until the last couple of years. Its in my blood though. My mother and grandmother have and had beautiful gardens. I would love to have chickens but I dont know if I can have them here. But I just wanted to say hello.

Hi Amelia! Just wanted to let you know that there's a Farmgirls chapter starting up close by, in Carnation, and we'd love to have you! Email me (use the little "mail" icon up above in my post) if you'd like more info! Its only about a 30 minute drive out here, and we're going to have a lot of fun!
Farmgirl hugs, Emme

I'm in Yakima! Yes I know when the passes are closed! ugh! My husband has to go over them to work- we monitor the passes daily. This winter has been quite a trial I admit. He is a good driver, but even he can't get through when they are closed. The day they all were closed it took him 6 hours to get home. :(

Welcome to the group! I'm sure you'll feel right at home! I love to garden too and am planning my first vegetable garden. Seattle and Washington are beautiful areas. I was there years ago and can't wait to go back.

Dalyn where are you from? Could you believe White Pass was closed this past week? I've lived here all my life and that's the first time I remember it being closed.

Hi Amelia, I'm another Washingon girl. I'm from the west side, but living in Central now. I'm a terrible gardener, but I keep tryin'! I'm better at animals and kids. I have four kids and a gazillion animals. *U* (It seems like it at feeding time anyway)
Enjoy yourself here- it's great. Maybe we can get all these Washington farmgirls togehter some time! Summer at my house...you all come here to my town for fruit anyway!

My BIL lives in Covington and they love it. It's got some great areas that still have a "country feel". I taught at Green River Community College Head Start for a few years and always went to Covington on my lunch break.

Welcome Amelia, glad to meet you here! I'm like you, we bought a house that had an orchard, garden, and some beautiful flowers. The people who lived there before had a beautiful yard already set up. My husband and I are still learning as we go and I find some valuable information and advice here at the forums every day.

Thank you everyone, I have already gotten some great tips on here. I live in Covington. Its right outside of Kent and Maple Valley. If we dont get chickens, thats ok cause my mom has some and she always gives me eggs.

Hi Amelia!

Welcome! You'll love it here!
I live in L.A. but was born and raised in Seattle, Bellevue, Issaquah, Woodinville and a few others. What city are you in?
