Hey Joyce!

Welcome to the forum. I was originally born in Gulfport, Mississippi to an Air Force daddy. I've traveled all my life..LOL Lived in Mobile, Alabama off and on for about 8 years..lived in Slidell, Louisiana on and off for about 10 years..and tons of other stops! I'm now in a suburb of Memphis, Tennessee and will probably be here for about 3-4 years it's looking like.

My DIL is from New Orleans and is a Chef but they lost everything in Hurricane Katrina so now are living in a burb of Houston, Texas.

Look forward to knowing you better...Oh, and tell me more about your Shabby Girls chapter! I just opened a cyber henhouse over in the sisterhood section of this site. You can read about it at my blog..Come by and check it out..your chapter may want to do a cyber henhouse too!

Howdy, Joyce!

My mom spent a year near Monroe back in the 1940s -- Winnsboro, to be exact. Two years ago my Australian friend, daughter, and I were passing through Lousiana and went through Winnsboro. It was the favorite part of the trip for me, even better than the Space Center in Houston and Graceland! But HUMID, even in May!

Greetings from the Inland Northwest! Karin

Welcome Joyce!
I grew up in New Iberia and have very fond memories of living on the Bayou Teche. I'd set my crab line before I went to school, watch the sugar cane trucks pass by and wait for a cane to fall off so I could eat it, and I had to speak Cajun French with my grandparents...that's all they knew. Louisiana is it's own country!

I've lived in Texas now for 20 years and love everything about it. Texas is it's own country, too. I love crossing the state line on I-10...coming from Texas side I feel like a cajun again at the top of that bridge and then coming from the Louisiana side I feel like a Texan again. Each time I cross the line I somehow astonishingly get a new accent! That cajun accent just pops right back when I see the moss filled oak trees.

You are going to love it here. Share your stories often.

Blessings
Catherine
