Greetings from Amenia NY! This is a rural neck of New York but just a few train stops from the burbs and then, just a few more stops from Grand Central Station.
I'm a farmgirl in spirit, always wanted to have some chickens, sheep, a horse, cats and dogs, and raise bees. I do have three cats and have become a co-beekeeper with the grounds manager at The World Peace Sanctuary were I work.
I enjoy homemaking and cooking, am beginning a garden and learning to preserve this year. I also enjoy sewing, soap (cold processed) and candle making but haven't done much of it in a few years.
I'm a rough and tough 43 year old single mother and grandmother. Can make a perfect souffle and move a refrigator single-handedly! I can also do most of my routine car repairs (since I was 12). I'm of African-American and Italian decent so our home is loud, colorful, and outgoing! I love to travel and, since my adulthood, have lived in 5 different states, more than twice as many towns!
My goal is to be living on or near the South Carolina sea islands within the next 5 years, enjoying the weather, the Gullah culture, and the southern hospitality! I suspect I'll plant roots there (though I'll always travel!).
Good to meet y'all!

Posted - Jan 18 2008 : 05:39:45 AM Doreen -- glad you're here. You are one strong woman! I have this image of you moving the frig while the souffle is in the oven -- oh, that wouldn't work, would it?! Love your 5-year plan. Looking forward to hearing more about you and yours.
