I am Denise, a dreamin' farmgirl on a small plot of land that my grandfather used to farm in downtown Atlanta. I have my little garden, my herb bed, my chicken coop, and lots of flowers. I have my clothesline in my mama's yard next door and thats ok. My wonderful hubby, David, and I have big dreams of owning a farm one day. Five to ten acres would be alright. Our main problem is selling the house we're in. People around here are buying new houses, not used ones.

I have three wonderful children that we either have or are homeschooling. Elizabeth is 18, graduated, working as a vet tech, dating Andrew, a 21 year old deputy sherrif. She has no desire to get her hands dirty or feed a chicken. She loves books, cats, and Andrew. Hannah is my helper girl. She will be 16 on Jan. 10 and loves to work in the garden with her mama. She'll throw on some overalls and help her mama scrub the chicken house in a heartbeat. Charlie is my hunting baby. He loves to go hunting and fishing with his daddy. He would make the perfect park ranger one day.

I am currently working on repairing a 60 year old quilt that David's granny made. He found 5 in her house and 4 of them are not in good shape at all. I love to sew, cross stitch, free hand sew, and want to learn to knit. I volunteer with a cat shelter and work part time at a vet to support my cat habit David is a forklift mechanic.

My baby is a chihuahua named Adelaide. She is my dream dog, my true little angel, not your typical chihuahua (she is far from neurotic!!)

Well, I guess that is enough about me for now. I can't wait to get to know all of you.

Welcome Denise!! I'm a GA gal as well. I live just down 675S- a hop, skip and a jump away from you. My son lives off Moreland, about 3 minutes from I-20. :)
I'm not hopping or skipping much lately as I did a number on my ankle falling at Oakland Cemetary on New Year's Day. :( But maybe one day we can get the Atlanta farmgirls together!
Glad you've joined us.

Thanks so much for all of the warm welcomes!

I am lucky to have my chickens Carmen. We are in an unincorporated part of the county and that is the only way I can get around it. When they built big fancy houses beginning at my property line, the rich folks tried to get me in trouble but it didn't work. My grandfather had raised chickens, ducks, and turkeys here for years.

Lea, sorry but I can't share my Hannah. She is such a blessing to me. I honestly don't know what I would do without her.

Well, today is a work day so I need to go get ready. I have to go hang clothes on the line before we leave (and it is about 25 outside right now with a wind chill of 11) so it will take me a while to warm back up. My poor chickens won't even come off of the roosts this morning. We just aren't used to this kind of weather here in GA.

ps...I meant to tell you girls that I found a new nailpolish that looks so pretty on and is oh so very feminine (and hides dirt stains well) it is Amethyst Frost by Wet n Wild and I got it for .97 at WalMart

Hi Denise. You already have a farm even if tiny. You are so lucky to have a chicken coop. Where I live, it's not allowed. I'm hoping to find a loophole in the zoning laws so I can have one too. Good luck with the quilt, that's such a great find. You could possibly turn the other ones into things like tablecloths, place mats if they are in too bad condition. I'm sure there are bits and pieces that are salvageable. It's really nice of you to help with the cats.

A big warm welcome to you, Denise! Our family moved to TN from Dallas, GA, just a couple of years ago. You sure do live in pretty country there. We miss that tropical weather and those amazingly colorful flowers. So nice to know about you, and looking forward to knowing you better!

P.S. Can you send Hannah on up this way? I need some help with a chicken house come spring!

Blessings, Lea
