Posted - Nov 27 2007 : 12:41:57 PM Hi everyone ~ I'm Lea Blakney and am so excited to be here! I just got my first MaryJane book two weeks ago and it was like a breath of fresh air. Truly I sighed deeply after every page.
Let's see ... I am a 42 year old wife & mom. Born in West Virginia and through a series of moves and changes finally came to reside on our 16 acre mini farm here in rural West Tennessee just last year. It is not much of a farm yet, but we are on our way! We have managed to clear a bit of the land, have built a small cottage in which we live, collected some local cats that needed looking after and plowed a plot for a spring garden. I truly hope we can add some chicks and a nice milk goat in the spring time. I have so much to learn...
We have three precious boys that we homeschool which I really enjoy. I also love working with my hands. I enjoy stitching, creating primitive dolls & annies, piecing quilts (haven't quite got the quilting down yet), and oh just creating any old thing that might have been used by our farmgirl ancestors. I especially love it when I can find an old button or piece of lace to add to a new creation. I simply treasure old things to my husband's chagrin. But I always tell him that he should be pleased I like old things because he will be one of them soon enough!
Thanks so much for allowing me to join your group. I look so forward to getting to know you and learning from you all. I feel blessed already!
Blessings, Lea

Posted - Nov 28 2007 : 12:48:22 PM Thank you all for your warm welcome ~ I feel I am among friends already! I just love how this group embraces everyone. That is so nice.
That Jim Elliot quote is my very favorite, too, Debi! No matter how you look at it, it keeps things in perspective, doesn't it?
Any hints on keeping up with everything. It seems I keep visiting forums and can't seem to remember where I've been or how to get back. It may be that I just need to keep notes. The ole' memory is just not what is used to be! I'm sure I'll get the hang of it eventually.
So nice to be here. Thanks for making me feel so welcome.
Blessings, Lea
