Posted - Aug 03 2005 : 8:18:45 PM Hi! I'm a "new" farmgirl having found MaryJane's magazine yesterday at the local bookstore and reading it cover to cover - twice! I grew up in a small town in Bozeman, Montana and while never having lived on a farm, I now know why I have always felt this way! I'm really excited to be here - I'm really excited to be home! |

Posted - Aug 04 2005 : 06:33:38 AM Welcome Mary Alice - I'm fairly new also - I know what you mean by missing the mountains. Although the mountains in Maryland are only at the most 2800 ft, when I moved to Illinois for two years I missed them alot - that and the trees. We have so many trees here - fall is so beautiful and incredible. Welcome.

Posted - Aug 03 2005 : 10:54:42 PM I met my husband for the first time in Bozeman Montana! He's from Helena originally and we live in Washington. He misses the mountains very badly as well. When I first saw all the natural beauty that remains in Montana I was in awe. When the sun sets it's like a picture book!
you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive. James Stewart in the movie HARVEY |

Posted - Aug 03 2005 : 10:27:35 PM Isn't that wonderful. She is so right!!! I missed the mountains when I lived in Minnesota too. I grew up in Calif..at the beach and everyone was sure I would miss the ocean. Nope. It was the mountains. They make me feel safe I guess. Did love Minnesota though. I would love to go there again someday. Haven't been back in a LONGGGGGG time.

Posted - Aug 03 2005 : 8:52:53 PM Minnesota is a lovely place to live, although I deeply miss the mountains of my Montana roots. I have been searching for something meaningful, a sincere connection to women who understand the importance of home and family, since my mom passed away almost two years ago. My family history is dotted with farmgirls, and I have always felt a special pull towards nature, the rural landscape, the open land, and the peace that results from immersing oneself within. I felt that peace and was able to breathe deeper as soon as I read the inside cover of MaryJane's latest magazine "No Place Like Home". She is so right: "Home isn't just a place or a location, It's a feeling, a memory, a sound, sometimes a smell." Wow! |
