Hello, farm-girlfriends. I've posted a couple of times already without an intro. It's so interesting reading what you each have to say..I just can't help but "plug my nose and jump in." Many times I will read an entry, and say to myself..yeah, that's what I meant. I am a 55 yr. young woman w/husband, 1 son, 1 daughter, 7 grandchildren. (Our oldest/14 yr. grandaughter is spending the night with us..fun) I have worked outside the home most of my married life, however, I know I would always find plenty to do if I could be at home. I love to try new things, and have a lot of interests. I sewed most of my childrens baby clothes by hand, or on the treadle. I baked our breads (remember Herman "the sour dough starter"). Canned, jellied, and I especially like to use our dehydrator for veg, fruits, herbs, flowers, and craft gifts. Dried tomatoes and mushrooms are my favorites. (The flavor is so o o concentrated when reconstituted.) I crochet a little, weave a little ( did weave a friends dog's hair w/a variety of other yarns into a couple of pillows about 20 years ago. I still have one pillow. My sister has the other. I am learning to spin on my drop spindle. I helped a friend pick, wash and card a fleece. That was fun and satisfying. Embroider. Collect OLD womens magazines.(The styles, patterns, etc. are great.) I plant/harvest herbs. Lots of crafts. I like cooking and hunting for/trying new foods. I love MaryJane's packaging, so the size is perfect for home and the office. I collect tiny boxes, chickens & roosters, and have my youngest 3 grandaughters convinced that Grammie collects dust. Last night my husband called me to come quick into the parlour. He was sleeping & woke up to the Food Network/Food Finds show, and woke up to a program on Camping. And sure enough, there was MaryJane and her Farm. Wow! and then I said it backwards. Did anyone else see it?

Welcome, grammaj. I am also a gramma j :), and I think you chose a great name. My grandchild is 15 months old, a little girl, and I am having the best time with her. I am 54.

Sounds like you have a great life with a variety of interests, and it was fun to read your bio. Oh, I also had "Herman" - thought I would never be able to get rid it - I felt guilty when I at last gave my starter batch to someone. We had pancakes, bread, muffins and everything I could think of before I had to let that go!

This week I put up a dozen jars of stewed tomatoes, with lots more tomatoes on the vine to come, and I thought what you said about drying yours was interesting. Where did you get your food dehydrator? Is it expensive?

Jeannie
