Hello Everyone,

I am new to MJ farmgirl.I stumble across this one night while surfing the web.I finally had the time to check it out and join today.I am new to farming but my hubby has all his life.I always wanted to have one growing up and now my dreams have come true.We have too many chickens to count,a couple of turkey,a few duck eggs in the incubator, two black angus cows, and 2 parrots to round out the bunch.

We show chickens in poultry shows so we get to travel,it is so much fun.We meet great bunches of people. My breed our dark cornish bantams,my husband has Old Engilsh game bantams and standard game bantams( a few different colors). We also raise cornish rock crosses to have for meat.I like to know what goes into the foods we eat.We are putting a veggie garden in this weekend. It is my first attempt at this so it should be fun to see what I can grow.I would also like to grow some strawberries.

My next dream is to be able to make enough in our efforts to be able to stay home.We have a long way to go but it have been fun getting there.Nice to "meet" all of you.

Alicia

Follow your dreams

Hi Alicia, welcome. I am fairly new also. My family & I are not yet on a farm but are looking. I have always been a farmgirl at heart. I spin, dye my wool w/ natural plants& hook rugs. My husband was brought up on a farm. It sounds like you have a wonderful farm life. We want to be in the mountains, have lived coastal most of my life but it's way to crowded. Not much room for farms anymore. Good luck & welcome to mjf. Michele
