Posted - Jun 06 2007 : 6:56:11 PM Hello from Missoula, MT to All!
What a cool message board! I have a feeling I'll learn a lot here! My name is Misty, and I have the tiniest farm on the planet. I call it Hungry Fox Gardens, and this is our 2nd year growing for the local Clark Fork River Farmer's Market. Well, I'm not sure what else to say, since I really am new here, and haven't looked around much. Thanks for reading, though. And if you are on MySpace, you can take a look at our Hungry Fox Gardens page. |

Posted - Jun 15 2007 : 3:57:57 PM Wow! Thanks for all of the welcoming!
I am so delighted that everyone asks about my farm. We call it the tiniest farm on the plantet, because it tryly is tiny. With a complete lack of land, my partner and I grow 10 different varieties of sprouts in our kitchen. Our fields are plastic trays, our crops tiny sprouts, and we are like giant farmers tending to miniature crops. The only "fox" we have to worry about is our youngest cat, who loves sprouts, and will snatch one if given the chance--even a super spicy radish sprout! This is our second year growing sprouts for our local farmer's market, and we love it. I decided upon sprouts after reading Joel Salatin's "You Can Farm." In it he challenges all wannabe farmers to start farming immediately! He says that the quickest turn around is radishes, and the next is chicken. Well, I knew sprouts had an even shorter turn around time since I used to grow them for friends many years back when I was in high school. Our "farm" is very successful, and we hope that one day Hungry Fox Gardens will be a real live farm. |

Posted - Jun 11 2007 : 10:26:01 PM Misty - what's the weather like in Missoula right now? We travel through there often, to go to our cabin and are planning a trip in a couple of weeks. We drive as far as Missoula the first day, then stay at the Motel 6 by I-90, then go on, ususally through Lincoln to GF the next day, but sometimes we go on to I-15 through Helena, depending on the weather. June, it should just be periodic rain, no snow, right - please? My cousin lives in Ennis though and she had snow a couple of weeks ago. |
