Posted - Apr 28 2007 : 7:48:59 PM Hi everyone.. I am kind of new, I have checked out the Farmgirl Connection several times and just got registered a bit ago. I am Leezard's mom, Pam. I live on a farm in central Michigan, with my husband. I work on a large dairy farm and we farm our own place too. We are in the process of getting our place certified organic. We hope to start our own dairy in the next few years. I am not crafty like my daughter. I enjoy being outdoors, I raise chickens, for eggs and meat, turkeys and we have a several beef cows, we are going to thin out the beef herd. Hope to get to know you all better. Pam |

Posted - May 04 2007 : 05:44:39 AM Thanks for the welcome. Things are very busy at my job, we have new owners and a major remodeling project is in the works. And we are trying to farm our whole 155 acres this year and we rent a small field from hubby's aunt that is all hay. We have to redo our fields that were all ready for hay, it rained on them. we also need to finish plowing a field where we will plant corn this year. The hay needs to get in soon, so you know what we will spend our weekend off doing! I also have a couple of flower bed projects in the works, and I am hoping we get the garden tilled this weekend. The weather is supposed to be nice so we should be able to accomplish most of our projects. Well, I must get off to work, thanks again for the welcome. I will try to participate more. Pam |

That is very exciting about getting your farm certified organic. If you were closer, I would definitely be a customer.

Posted - Apr 28 2007 : 9:38:11 PM Hi Pam!
Congrats on starting the organic certification process. I am not sure what it takes in your state, but I know that it is usually a pretty in depth process. I wish I lived closer to you- One of the things I would really love to find would be an organic dairy so I could get fresh milk whenever I wanted :) It will be really fun getting to know you!
