Posted - Jun 17 2005 : 1:37:29 PM Hey All of You Mail Art Farm Girls.. Do you think that we should have a Mail Art Chapter that transcends state and national boundaries (since we have our lovely Helen from New Zealand)? I have some certificates and goodies left over from the HOWDY YA'LL Texas Chaper, and I could certainly order another kit or two since we are such a large group.
Will look forward to hearing from you. I promise to get a new master list out in the next week or so.

Posted - Nov 13 2024 : 12:19:47 PM Shennandoah, I agree with Sara. I would rather meet in a public place if I don't know the person, but I would be fine with a house if I knew the person. Good luck with your new adventure! I hope you have a great turn out.

Posted - Nov 11 2024 : 4:50:17 PM Brentwood Farm Girls located East of the San Francisco Bay Area is about to enter our 5th year in 2025. We have monthly in person meetings with a Zoom option for those who cannot attend in person. We do have members in Oregon, Florida and Texas, so the state does not matter. You can find us also on Facebook for free, but if you want to do the meetings, activities, outings, badges etc., you need to be a MJF sisterhood member. Currently, we have 9 active ladies and about 50 online in Facebook, we would love to increase our numbers and meet more people. In 2025, for our 5 year celebration, we are taking a trip to Moscow, Idaho to Mary Janes Farm. Come check us out*

Posted - Nov 06 2023 : 07:30:46 AM Shennandoah, I do not belong to a chapter but throughout my life I have belonged to several clubs. If I knew the hostess, I was comfortable going to her home but if I was going because of a notice in the paper (before Facebook) or someone else told me about it I felt better going to a public place like a coffee shop or restaurant.

Posted - Nov 05 2023 : 1:36:59 PM Okay so I am taking the leap and starting a chapter in my neck of the woods. I'm most comfortable with Facebook, so I set up a Gmail account and am going to set up a FB group to start soliciting members. Everyone in our little town is on FB. I've already talked about it to a few gals and they said to let them know as soon as I have a first info session. Question -- would it be better to host an initial info session at a local coffee shop and restaurant, or would it be okay to host it at my house? Being out in the country we are limited as to hours for coffee shops, and my food allergies keep me from many of the restaurants, but I'm also kind of an anxious host. What have ya'll seen work? |

Posted - May 30 2020 : 7:02:47 PM Tchr66, rhinomom2, GinnyBell, Hi! My thought to do a Zoom Farm Girl gathering. Rhinomom2 glad to alternate host Let's talk about what you'd like to do At the first chapter meeting: Let's meet and talk about what you'd all like to do. My Thought was to -- Pick a badge, individually or as a group, -- work through the levels, and enjoy the conversation and community together. Grab a cup of tea, spend some time with farm chicks.
To ve able to make this happen, it would make it a whole lot easier if I could do a group email. If people signed up on the Urban Farm Chick Chapter, I could make a group email. That way I can find a mutually agreed upon time and let you all know the Zoom Meeting Details. HOW to sign up? Go to Chapter Search, http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Chapters/Search.asp put San Jose into the "search by city", two chapters are in San Jose, Click to join Urban Farm Chicks. I'll be in touch.

Posted - May 29 2020 : 05:40:42 AM Good Morning all, Jan...and if you would like to host the first Zoom meeting get us started I'm in! We could alternate hosting and set a schedule for each successive meeting time. How about we get this started and see where it goes - I need more Farmgirls in my life. Keep us posted and thank you for the idea and ways to get us moving. Linda

Posted - May 29 2020 : 03:05:44 AM The idea of Zoom and Facetime and all those virtual chat things terrifies me. I have a love/hate relationship with technology. LOL! But, I am in the same boat as Terri. There are no active chapters in the Greater Lafayette, IN area that I can find. If someone is starting a virtual chapter, I'd be willing to give it a try if y'all are patient with my lack of knowledge of video meet ups! :)

Posted - May 28 2020 : 05:39:52 AM The idea of a Zoom meeting is a great one!! I've used it and Facebook Room to tell stories to my grandkids (and whoever wants to join) every week. In fact, I have one tonight - I call it "Stories with a Nana". I agree with Terri - it could be a wonderful experience to meet and talk with everyone from everywhere :)

Posted - May 28 2020 : 03:44:02 AM Jan, I like the idea of a Zoom chapter. I have been conducting my Science and Math classes via Zoom since Late March. It would work if everyone participates. I am in Ohio.If I can not find a chapter here maybe I could join you? could be wild being a part of a chapter that spans our great continent.

thanks

Posted - May 27 2020 : 2:09:14 PM Well, if anyone wants a Zoom Chapter, we can take a Badge and I or someone more knowledgeable can demo a way to do it, meet again to discuss progress, share tips, get some goals met, and make some friendships. I raise goats, chickens, know embroidery and fermenting vegetables, and teach gardening 74-86 students a semester. I'm not good at sewing, but I bartered and got a treadle sewing machine. Thinking of meeting 6 times a year on even months, keeping it simple, creating a learning opportunity to learn some skills and have fun doing it. Making the meeting really short, we can explore some ideas if people want to expand what we are doing. If you click and sent a message to Urban Farm Chicks Chapter in San Jose, http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Chapters/Search.asp let me also know here if you don't get a response. The system may not be working! Jan
