I am thinking of throwing an apron party. I would have 2 sewing machines, scissors, thread, patterns and assorted trims and bias tapes available.
The ladies would need to bring a yard of fabric, any of their own trim they wanted to use, and maybe a snack item.
Then we could spend the day cutting out and sewing our new aprons.

What do you think?
Maybe I'll call it the Apron Bee...

Hello Grace!
I am going to the Kern River with Sisters on the Fly in September (to many things going on in May) and will take some aprons! Great idea! I hope to get a luncheon going on down this way in Old Town Temecula soon. Miss everyone! Have a nice day putting that Twinkie in your home! Good Luck selling.
Hugs, Maryjane Lee

Reading this is always an inspiration to me! You all know how to make a Farm Girls day! I use to pack my sewing machine away after using it each time but never again since I have joined MaryJane's Farm!!!!! Just went to a darling fabric store yesterday and bought more 1930's reproduction fabric. Looks just like an apron my Grandma Sadie wore...sweet memories! Oh! One more thing...I am teaching my 5 year old Granddaughter Hailey how to sew the last couple weeks. I had her pick out some fabric for herself to!

Happy Sewing!

I'm going to have an apron open house that day, I've decided. I'll just send out invitations and from about 11-3, the aproned gals can just drop in for a cup of tea - hot or iced - and a cookie or two. I think I'll have the house decorated with aprons and I'll be sewing, too - so anyone who wants to join in, can! What a fun idea!!!

Wish I could join you ladies, but since I still (but not for long) live in So. Calif. I won't be able to join you in person,,,,however, that being said, I will join you in spirit and I will wear my apron & "June Clever" pearls....LOL!

*bump*

Who else is having an apron party on May 12th?

Who is going to be participating in National Apron Day on May 14th?

Well, that's fine by me, Libbie!
littlegreen/Katelyn is the one who mentioned the bbq, so I 'borrowed' it from her ; }

It's cool to think we'll all be doing the same thing! How very cool!
I hope everyone posts afterward and shares their experiences.

I am SO excited about this one - I'm for SURE having one at my house - and I can just imagine apron parties the world over....I'm so proud to be part of you gals! You're the greatest!!! Faith, I think just might use your brunch/bbq idea, if you don't mind? It's a great one!

Of course you can come!
Pomtinis! Yummy!

OK, I'm trying to finalize the plans.
I think it would be great to have it on Saturday the 12th so the aprons would be done for the 14th.
I think I'm going to plan the girls-only apron making for brunch time and then carry it into an evening bbq that involves our families, also.
How does that sound?

I'm off to work on the invites!
You all are invited, of course!

I think it would be fun to have apron parties on May 14th - although that's a Monday. Maybe the Saturday before? Mother's Day is the 13th.

Wow...I'd bring my sewing machine & serger to share at a party like that. Why don't we all sponsor one at our homes this year. Why not sometime around May 14th? Close to mother's day.
Think of all the aprons that could be made if we all gathered our friends together to make them!

I just saw that article - SO cute, isn't it! I just love the idea. THAT might be my summer "neighborhood event" that I'll try to hostess this year. Here's something interesting about the aritcle, too - did you know that the "Kate" the FarmChicks are talking about is MaryJane's son Emil's wife?!?!?! Neat!

There is a campaign by the Kitchen Madonna to make National Wear an Apron Day May 14th. Here is a link...the post is the second one down. I am planning on wearing mine out into the world (to preschool, the grocery, wherever) and documenting people's reactions. Should be interesting.

This sounds like SO much fun!!! What a wonderful idea - I sure wish I could be there - and maybe, as the date approaches, I'll organize one here - hey - what if we ALL had apron parties at around the same time? Can you imagine it - farmgirls the world around stitching and chatting and snacking... I think that would send off some GREAT energy!!!!

HERE is Idaho, Margie...almost the whole continent away...
I'll send your invitation early!!!
Yours, too, Georgann.

I don't know when I'll do it. Probably after my vacation <insert happy dance> in mid-March.

I'm looking forward to this and so badly need more time hanging out with other girls!
Some friends and I have already talked of having Thursday girl-nights...I can't wait.
