Thank goodness this is an Annual event as I can't attend this year but am already planning for next year. I will be there either in my trailer which I have yet to find or a borrowed one.

The weekend will definitely be a Marathon and not a sprint... So come ready to have more fun than you can image. For those that haven’t been to Hurd's in Rockford, you are indeed in store for a treat... the gals are amazing and the store and town are just "fun"... and that is just the beginning.. As you travel down the Palouse.... you will have the opportunity to have old fashion photos taken, see amazing hand made quilts, and get a glimpse of what is harvested in the Palouse, as you take in the amazing rolling hills of the Palouse. Take walks in gardens and sip lemonade and tea. Listen to some of the best live music, do a little "junking"... and all of that is before you even get to the Old Mill and Oakesdale where we are totally "amping" it up! Just when you thought we couldn’t fill more into one weekend...........we are going to whisk you away to Settler's Creek for a day of simple organics where you can sit at beautifully decorated tables, listen to music, shop around all things Coeur d alene, have a great meal and listen to a very, very special surprise speaker......

I just know, that no one will go away disappointed and we will all know each other so much better.....All of at the farm, cant wait for your arrival!

Sherri! I've been meaning to tell you that there are a zillion different links. I typed 1920's costumes and came up with a huge list that has been fun sorting through. Many are vintage patterns that you can tinker with and with your expertise I can't imagine that being an issue at all!! I can not wait!! Holy smokes this is going to be fun!! ~julia

Thanks Julia - could you pass on some links for me that shows some 20s rural fashion? Can't wait to meet you!

Alee - don't let Nora get too big before I see her again! My grandma used to say "take the manure out of their shoes"!

Hey Sherri! I don't know if this will put your mind at ease but I am SO with you sister on the drop waist thing. No thanks! I'm not the flapper type at all! It helps me remember that for many of those women, the reason they stayed so thin was because they were drinking coca-cola which actually had cocaine in it! This is why it was such a party drink..people danced and did the Charleston all night long! Ah, no thanks!!

Because I can manage well in any city but find that my heart doesn't dwell there in the least, I've been looking at 20's fashions for more rural women. There are some lovely tea dresses, Sunday dresses etc that are interesting to me.

I also can't escape the idea that I love the whole Goddess thing. I can't describe it other than my fascination with all things divinely feminine. By the way, I find women bucking the trend of way back when wearing pants divinely feminine! However, I am a girlie-girl, wear dresses only type woman so my vision of a Goddess during the 20's is something colorful, full of flowing fabric and art-deco. That is going to be my costume. I have no idea beyond that. I suspect I'll find an interesting original pattern and will take it from there...

This was a booming art era so I find that the flapper perspective is but one of many things happening during this time. The sky's the limit I say!

Hope that offers you some perspective out of the traditional view.....

Many smile and much laughter!! ~julia

You guys are scaring me with your talk of 20s dresses! Every pattern I've seen for 20s dresses are dropped waist and even when I was at my thinnest I couldn't wear dropped waist!

Well if I can loose a couple of pounds, I might sew a couple 1920's dresses and wear them all weekend! How fun would that be! But I think there was talk of a dance? And wearing flapper dresses to the dance?
