Posted - Mar 24 2009 : 12:06:55 PM Hi there, I am so excited to join you all and am anxious to join a chapter. I have contacted the one in Poulsbo, WA, where I live, but get no response. I've also contacted a couple of other chapters nearby. Has anyone else had this type of experience, where you haven't been contacted by chapters you have contacted? What would you advise? Maybe I'm being too impatient- it's only been a week!
Thank you, |

I am also relatively new and am trying to find a chapter around Deer Park WA. I have written to one that may be active, but have not received a response. Can you help or make suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Posted - Apr 05 2009 : 12:39:21 PM Yeah I also had a similar problem. So I just created my own chapter. I have posted ads for it on craigslist and have gotten responses to it from interested women. We will have our first meeting soon. We are located in Seattle. You can always start your own chapter and look for interested women to join. :)

Posted - Apr 04 2009 : 9:40:44 PM Hey gals, Starting chapter is so super easy. Go to the link http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Chapters/Join.asp then go ahead and find some farmgirls.. to join you. You make the rules, you decide how often you meet, where, and what you do. There is alot of help here on the forum and you can always email me.
Here in Prosser, our chapter meets once a month formally ( the 3rd thur of each month) and then sometimes smaller groups or outtings during the month.... To get started I hosted what I called a "farmgirl round-up" at the local farmers market, but it can be done anywhere, just posted a little blurb in the local paper and made some posters for the local grocery store, gift stores, fabric store, garden supply, and library inviting girls to come out. I had the first meeting in the local park.. it was very informal.. Just lemonade and sugar cookies and great discussion about what girls wanted to meet about... we use the MaryJane Books to find topics as well as the current magazines.. so we never have a shortage of topics. We find the less structure the better for our group. Currently we have 133 women in our group....

Posted - Mar 25 2009 : 10:15:24 PM I had an active chapter in SW WA and we met for almost 18 months. Then it just fizzled out. I miss it so much and would love to be part of another chapter. Anyone in the Vancouver/Battle Ground/ La Center/Camas area that is interested let me know. I'll be happy to revive the Rusty Chicks!!

Posted - Mar 25 2009 : 10:08:37 PM I have to tell you, and I am going to quote MJF sister Joann in Colville, WA...."getting ladies to gether is like trying to heard cats" and she is soooo right! But our way of thinking over here is we just throw something out and who ever can attend does. It may be as few as 3 ladies to well over a dozen. And it seems like it's never the same group. But we do try. So come on you PNW ladies, get together, don't miss out on meeting & making wonderful friends. This goes for all you MJF sisters all over the Country.... Happiness is making farm girl friends! >^..^<

Posted - Mar 25 2009 : 4:06:48 PM Any Western Washington Farmgirls out there- can you help us figure out why we have established chapters that don't seem to be meeting and/or accepting new members? What can we do? We may not have the "wide open spaces" our sisters east of the Cascades do, but I'm sure we have the spirit! Let's come up with ideas to help us all have the interaction with other Farmgirls that we need. Please- suggestions, anyone? Thanks! |

Posted - Mar 25 2009 : 08:00:53 AM I had initiated a farmgirl chapter in Olympia, but the ladies I had in mind are not interested. If someone wants to head the chapter go right ahead. I'll email the farm and see how to make the group "open".

Posted - Mar 24 2009 : 10:38:57 PM I'm looking forward to it too Grace!
I'm not sure why it so tough to get chapters going over here (western WA), because it seems like you guys have a ball with it over on the east side. Too bad Poulsbo and Elma aren't closer, Maria and I could start one!

Posted - Mar 24 2009 : 9:25:05 PM hey Maria & Sherri, sorry you have not had any luck with finding a chapter in your neck of the woods...not sure where Poulsbo & Elma are in WA. I live in Spokane and there are a hand full of us that try to get together from time to time...but considering everyones schedules,,,it's a wonder that we are able to occassionally meet up. Sherri, I know it's quit a drive from your neck of the woods to us, but I look forward to seeing you in July...for MJ's Farm Fair - B.B.B. hugz
