Posted - Oct 20 2008 : 06:42:58 AM Saturday the Northern Oregon Farm girls got together for their fall meeting. We went to the Portland Farmers Market on the campus of Portland State University in downtown Portland. Beautiful weather, started out chilly but soon the sun came out and it was a glorious fall day. This market is big - all the fall vegetables were on display. Bright peppers, colored cauliflower, lettuce, potatos, etc.
There were cooking demonstations, a vendor that was roasting peppers, homemade cider and bread.
It was a lot of fun.
It was great to see some of the girls I had met before plus I met a new farmgirl Lillian from Scott's Mills.
Of course I forgot the camera so no pics.
Our next get together hopefully will be this winter in January or February. Hoping to do a creative meeting where everyone brings something they are working on or we create something as a group. Maybe we can then have a potluck so we can eat, create and "gab" as Farmgirls know how to do

Posted - Oct 24 2008 : 06:56:31 AM This particular market goes till the end of December. The only other market I know of in Portland that runs long is the one in Hillsdale neighborhood, but they only have it once a month during the winter months and it is not as near as big as the downtown Portland one. I now have to go back with DH and get more stuff.

Mavens are "information specialists", or "people we rely upon to connect us with new information."[6] They accumulate knowledge, especially about the marketplace, and know how to share it with others
