Posted - Oct 15 2008 : 4:31:18 PM We have a new henhouse for homeschooling farmgirls!
On the Sisterhood site we now have a henhouse for moms that home school.
We are going to have wacky monthly info and ideas to celebrate, books for schooling and personal escape, virtual field trips with our own "Flat Stanley's", teacher appreciation days, recipes for play and table and anything else you can think of to do.
Come on over and play!

Posted - Mar 08 2010 : 2:12:48 PM It feels so good when you accomplish home schooling your child and they graduate with high marks. My daughter graduated Jan. 09. Yeah! on time I might add. So, one of my friends who also home schooled her child has some books for sale that I'm going to list on ebay. One set is called questions kids ask, complete set and the other is all about learning the states called, Which way U.S.A. by Highlights, complete set. I'll have these up tomorrow, if you know these they are great additions to any curriculum. http://stores.ebay.com/funfamilybargains Farmgirl sister #308 handmade cards, vintage organizer bags and more at www.jeanpatchbymk.etsy.com http://jeanpatch.blogspot.com www.fullerdirect.com id#0920150 www.watkinsonline.com/rjaramillo |

Posted - Mar 07 2010 : 5:39:43 PM My kids love art, too. They love doing science experiments. My son wants to be a pilot, my daughter a missionary. Or maybe an oceanographer, lol! She loves to fish, he loves to hunt. She loves plants, he loves animals. They both love history, and like reading. He does more cooking and she does more baking. |

Posted - Nov 03 2009 : 12:02:26 AM Hi everyone...glad to see how y'all are doing. We took off the first week of october and camped part of the time we were gone too, that was the best days while we were gone...the kids had a ball! Now we're trying to get our "everyday" schoolwork in along with the large amount they are getting from the 2 classes a week they take with a homeschool co-op.I wish they didn't give them sooooo much...it's crazy, like six assignments for the one class alone each week! I'll have to check out the kids merit badges...sounds interesting.Have a wonderful and blessed day!! |

Posted - Oct 26 2009 : 07:16:14 AM Hey ya'll!
We're just plodding along. My daughter is so involved with fencing and a homeschool teen group that I'm NEVER home! We started off great with our work, but then the flood in Georgia hit and we just haven't gotten back to normal yet. Good grief!
I'm excited to see MJF doing a badge system for kids!
I had to let my sisterhood subscription go for this year. Just couldn't find the money in the budget. So I'm temporarily out of the henhouse section.
Off to start the day!

Posted - Oct 23 2009 : 11:37:15 AM Hey there, Homeschooling Hens!
Mary Jane and her crew are working on a Kids Merit Badge spinoff from the Sisterhood. Look at this thread for more info.
http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=32756
It is called the "Young Cultivators." Rene has a few badges in first draft form and I'll bet she would love some eager young testers!
I sent my kids back to our local school this year after homeschooling last year - I really regret it! I've been home all day baking oatmeal cookies by myself - its just not right! Can't wait to "quit school" again!

Posted - Oct 21 2009 : 11:34:21 PM Hey,where is everyone? I thought we were going to "play" together. I know we are all getting busy with school, and here we've joined a coop and found that it's taking some getting use to...one of the 2 classes my girls have(the one they have together fortunately) gives ALOT of work each week...way more than we expected. They like it but, sometimes are getting overwhelmed. Please, someone come play.Hope everyone's school year is going well so far. |

Posted - Jul 28 2009 : 12:47:51 PM We are homeschooling my 6 year old daughter. What fun we are having. It amazes me how much she has learned and wants to learn. We will be starting 1st grade in January. So need to start saving up some money. Jessie |

Posted - Jul 28 2009 : 12:00:03 AM Miss Dana, I have one whose ready for pre algebra or maybe even algebra, can you tell me more about the program Teaching Textbooks. It sounds like something I might be interested in.Older sibling and father are really good at math but, sibling seldom takes the time to help and father "talks over her head"(did the same thing when the older kids would ask for help. They'd get SOOOO frustrated!)This might be a solution.I'd love to know more about it.Thanks!God Bless! |

Posted - Jun 27 2009 : 7:44:07 PM Karen, I ordered it from their website. Julia, I can see light at the end of my tunnel with homeschooling! Three more years and I'm done!!! I'm SO ready to be done!
What are you moms that are now done with homeschooling doing with your new free time? I am thinking of going for another degree. My husband teaches at Emory University and I can go for free. (So can our kids, but so far 2 out of 3 chose to go into debt at other schools!) I might just eat bonbons and watch tv! Who knows!

Posted - Jun 27 2009 : 05:34:44 AM Karen, we just finished Teaching Textbooks Pre-Algebra and I really loved it. My daughter is happy with it as well. We bought the homeschool "whole enchilada" version and when she got stuck, she would pop in the disc and it was explained beautifully. We will use it for the rest of high school math.
What is everyone doing for the 4th of July? Daughter Ivey and I will be meeting my son at a Tea Party rally in Atlanta. Then ice cream and fireworks!
