Posted - Oct 25 2008 : 09:59:13 AM Just an update about the Cream City Chicks (Milwaukee, WI Farmgirl Chapter). This being breast cancer awareness month, we are starting an ongoing community project. We will be making shawls (knit, crochet, sewn) & scarves for the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic for women who are undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. Judy, one of the nurse coordinators at the Clinic, was very excited to hear about MJ & the Cream City Chicks & was very happy to have our ongoing donations of scarves & shawls. She told me that no one had suggested shawls before, but she thought it was a marvelous idea, in that they would be very comforting while women sat through 3-4 hours of chemotherapy in often cold treatment rooms. As a woman, a crafter & an RN, it's wonderful to be able to find a way to do things I love that can give back! And MJ's spirit & enthusiasm inspires us to this.
Wish us luck!
Sue

Good luck with your chapter!!! We're only slightly larger in size (4) than you are, so don't worry. We're planning a visit to a local farmers' market next weekend, with some handmade signs & flyers, our enthusiasm & smiles!! I'd love to get our groups together, maybe in the late spring for a met-up picnic or something - wouldn't that be fun! We could pick someplace half-way between & make a day of it, share food & crafting. We need to stay in touch & let each other know how our groups are growing, what we're doing to grow them, projects, etc., & then to plan our little spring fling!
What do you think?

Posted - Oct 15 2008 : 11:18:05 PM Hi Susan and good luck with your new chapter! Fox Cities Farmgirls had our first meeting Oct. 13th and while very small (2 of us) we had a nice time and brainstormed on ways to grow the group. Maybe someday we'll be able to have a Wisconsin gather up. Wouldn't that be fun?
