Any news from fellow WA henhouse gals? It's November and I'm finally catching a breather from harvest and putting food up. This fall we filled a few freezers with pear, grape and apple ciders. I want to learn to dehydrate or in some way easily preserve beef since we have a steer coming due for butchering.

warmly,
Jacqueline

I would love to join this Hen house when my membership goes through. I signed up over last weekend and paid the membership fee, but it still says "processing" or something of the sort. Once I get my number and everything I would love for this to be my Hen house though! I love WA!

Hey HOW2 FarmGirls.
I have been away from the computer a couple of days (I am actually here at MaryJanesFarm), for a few days and have been running around the farm doing farmgirl things and havent gotten to a computer until this morning when I needed to get my article for the local paper submitted... and so I thought I would drop into the forum as well... We are having a little mini event in Prosser on Friday Aug 1 @ 7:00 pm if ya all wanna come down - just a meet and greet.. but if your close enough, we'd love to see ya! I will check in later too...Hope your all having a great week..

Jacqueline,
That sounds so charming! I love the activities around the farm this time of the year. Sunny said that our virtual henhouse will be up and running in no time.. we are getting so many new farmgirls etc. that there is much to do.. and of course that is how we love it...

Speaking of henhouses ... our first baby chick born this summer. We let them go broody when they want and they seem to like having babies in midsummer. Found ae little araucana nestled under mama's wing as she sat on nine more eggs. Still have 29 in the nests.

Rene, how wonderful you are doing this for us all.

My own henhouse is LOUD right now! The gals are all discussing who in there laid that double-yolker we found this morning. My guess is one of the hefty buff orpingtons although the black and white barred rocks will swear it came from one of them. Aren't they precious?

I'm in southwest Washington, just over the river from Oregon. I'd like to join the WA farmgals. We've got a ten acre organic farm and PLENTY going on including farm stays for the farm-deprived. C'mon over!
