Posted - Jun 09 2008 : 06:56:30 AM I had two really fun ones this week. the 1st was when I was on my way to my hometown - I was traveling between Mesa and & Othello WA. the speed limit in that area is about 60. and I was going... a little over..... but the car behind me kept beeping at me.. I wondered why they didnt just pass.... so I slowed down a little and scooted over to the shoulder a little... to aide them in passing me... as they past... the gal in the passenger seat, had hurled over the fron seat, into the back seat.. Pointing out at her bumper... where I read her farmgirl sticker.. How fun!I laughted an waved.. Instant connection.
The second was in Barnes and Noble. I was talking to my friend on my cell phone - telling her I would be home in about 1/2 hour...but that I had stopped at B&N to get a stiching room book - the gal standing next to be... began to talk saying "oh, I just had to order one they are out"... I hung up the phone, asked her if she was a"farmgirl" she said not yet, just bought the magazine and ordered the book. So I shared about the other books, the blog, the new book coming out, the sister-hood and left her with a bumpersticker I had... Turns out she has family ties to Prosser, we exchangd contact info........Instant friends! I am not sure if gets better than that!

Posted - Jun 09 2008 : 09:44:49 AM I will post the recipe when I get a chance. My hubby thought it sounded yucky - but I think it sounds kind of good. She said it is great with cream cheese on crackers.
Rene, please send cooler temps! I can take the cold more than the heat....

Jeannie- when you make the blueberry-hot pepper jelly, let us know how it is! That sounds very interesting. :)

Posted - Jun 09 2008 : 07:10:02 AM How cool is that! I think we should adopt our own special horn honk to let folks ahead of us know we are honking at their bumper sticker. LIke maybe three short beeps and a long one or something! Morse code for farmgirls! :)
Yesterday, hubby and I went and picked blueberries at a farm we visit each year. It was wicked hot and sunny. I could hear a bull frog's low deep croak and sprinklers going nearby. Other than that, all quiet. There was only hubby and me and one other woman there. I got so hot, I sat in the shade with a cold bottle tucked up under my chin. Hubby can outpick me any day. Anyway, as the other gal was leaving, she weighed her berries and we began to talk. She told me the story of her grandmother in Ohio and how she used to pick berries with her......then she gave me a recipe for blueberry/hot pepper jelly. She said how contented that ole bull frog sounded and I laughed. We sat in the shade of a tree and chatted. When she walked away, I thought to myself - there goes a MJF farmgirl and she does not even know it! But we knew we were kindred spirits as we talked. I did not even get her name. But I have her favorite recipe for jelly!
A farmgirl connection of sorts!!! Don't you think?
