I forgot to add that if you all want to come down to SW La. My home is open--I have a large bedroom with a queen size and double bed PLUS air mattress galore !!! (Thankks to Rita !)

At first we wanted somthing central, and that is fine, but the invitation is open !!

Kim, at some point we were talking about November--How about some weekend in November. I have stated before that I am willing to travel to where ever. I am open for anytime or anyplace.

I just got word from HL. They are finally out of the storm but took a big hit and are, as he said, having a boat load of problems. They are taking on some water but thought to have it fixed pretty soon. All the crew were safe and the ship was still floating. He was using a satellite phone so couldn't go in to detail. He is now more worried about those of us here. He has been in every storm to enter the gulf this year and said that Rita is the worst thus far. However, I will not repeat his actual words. Thanks everyone for the prayers and support. I honestly didn't know what the outcome would be this time. Thank god he is alive and well.

I still have not heard from HL. I'm starting to worry now. We too have a houseful and 4 fifth wheels in our front yard. A small trailer park if you will. I'm so glad to have friends with me right now as I can use all the support I can get. HL has ever lost communications before even during Katrina he kept in contact. Rita should be past them by now. I just wish I knew something, anything! Thanks for the prayers.

Linda,
I'm so glad you got out of there. Hopefully, Jackson will not lose power this time. You are very close to me as I'm on the northwest side of LA south of Monroe. They are calling for about 10-15 inches of rain here. I'm not scared of the rain or the actual hurricane. Really nervous about those nasty tornados though. Let us hope that most are spared.

Susan, tried to call but you are taking a nap. Much needed I imagine. Hopefully, Jerry is safe at home!

Lori,
Glad to hear those boys are home safe.

Kim,
You are very gracious in housing those in need. PTL for those like you!

Okay everyone, let's continue to hold each other in our thoughts and prayers. Nicole, I am praying a hedge of angels around your DH where ever he is and I KNOW he is protected and safe. Linda, I'm so glad you made it to safe ground. Susan, getting ready to call you and make sure your honey made it in. I have a house full from Houston, and all my chicks are in Austin. I'm thankful I won't be alone in case we lose power. Getting all my flashlights, candles and other necessary items in order as best I can. I'm feel really blessed we are in this together. Will check back in later.

love and protection to each of you!

Dear Nicole ~ the saying "when it rains, it pours" must have had its origin in the horrible storms you all have in the South. My heart goes out to you and your family, as well as Susan and everyone there. Hang on tight until everyone comes home safely ~ all of us here at the farm will be thinking only the best for you and yours!!
love,

My dear LA Farmgirl friends,
Again, we are preparing for another hurricane. I want to wish each of you and your families saftey. Stay safe my friends and post when you can. Once again HL (dh) is in the Gulf of Mexico. The last time I spoke to him Rita was hitting them hard south of Moblie. They have lost all communications at this time but I pray they are ok. Due to regulations they could not sail east toward FL in fear of getting land locked. They couldn't sail west as they usually do since that is the projected path. At this point I'm unsure of thier location I just pray someone had enough sense to let them sail east. Bless hold him in your prayers. I do believe Susan's (thesoapmaven) husband is in south TX (Brownsville I think) so also keep him in your prayers. Again, when Rita has passed please check in when you can.

Good Morning Farmgirls!!

MaryJane is pleased to announce that you can now sign up to be on our mailing lists for all the various Farmgirl Connection projects … from traveling aprons, books, buttons, charm squares, dolls, and quilts to sharing mail art, birthdays and recipes.

We’re now ready and willing to gather up all your mailing lists for these projects and manage them here at the farm. Just click on the “Sign up for Farmgirl Connection Projects” link from the Farmgirl Connection opening page to see descriptions of all the traveling projects.

Sign up for the projects that suit your fancy. Then we'll e-mail back to ask a few pertinent questions and get your address and phone number. While we monitor the lists for privacy and safety, all you farmgirls at heart can turn your energies toward creativity!

I know there is some confusion, as the mailing lists were started on the forum and are now managed here at the farm. If you’re curious to know if you’re already on a list, please contact Kate@maryjanesfarm.org and she’ll be happy to check for you. Take it Kate! …

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Kate Edwards and I’m a new member of the MaryJanesFarm crew (oh how exciting!!). I grew up just north of Spokane in a little town called Riverside with my Mom (Teri), Dad (Steve) and little sis (Allie). After high school I went to Eastern Washington University, where I studied Communications. Throughout my life, I’ve always been the kind of person to follow life’s little paths wherever they decide to take me, and this past spring my path took an exciting turn. I was introduced to MaryJane’s son, Emil, at my mom's spring antique show (The Farm Chicks Antique Show and Open Marketplace). The next thing I knew, my weekends were full of visiting the farm in Moscow to see my new boyfriend (oh how fun it is to be a girl!!). Then just this past week, MaryJane offered me the delightful job of organizing the mail lists for all the fun farmgirl projects on the forum and to run MaryJane’s Bed & Breakfast. I couldn’t pass it up!! What an amazing dream this has all become. Now that you all know a little about me, it's time for me to learn all about you. Can't wait to chat with you all soon!!

Other new forum features:

We’ve added a section for Farmgirl Chapters on our website. Our new web features allow you to sign up to Start a Chapter, do a Chapter Search to find and communicate with neighboring chapters, read a recent Newsletter, sign up for a Traveling Journal, and attend a Farmgirl Campout Convention. We’ll also be able to add new pages as new ideas are created.

The Farmgirl Connection is continuing to grow by leaps and bounds thanks to Clare, Eileen and all the fabulous farmgirls at heart that are gathered here! The strong ties of friendship are held together by all our apron strings!! Thank you all for participating in the Farmgirl Connection!

Sunnily yours,

Linda, I may be in Lake Charles the last week of the month. My good friend wants me to stay a few days with her for a change of scenery and I would love to squeeze in a visit with you. Will you be in town?

Nicole, good for you for getting us on the ball, now someone pick a date and a place...sooner than later...I just can't wait to meet everyone. I'm out of town Oct. 7-10, but any other dates are fine. What about you guys?

Nicole, Just read your post that you will be receiving the chapter kits soon. Thank you so much for getting it mailed. Remember, I am willing and able to drive anywhere to meet with all of you.

I am trying to type with Bobby's lap top and my fingers are "mishaped" by Rheumotoid Arth., so this might look horrible---sorry.
