Posted - Oct 25 2007 : 06:56:33 AM Nov 3rd I am meeting up with Farmgirls - Patricia Schaller (Utahfarmgirl) and her friend Kay and Patty Starr. We have never met, but have e-mailed each other. We are planning a trip to Silverton Oregon - just about 30 miles southeast of Portland. A cute historic mining town that is also home to the Oregon Gardens. Our timing is perfect for this because Silverton will be having their "Old Fashion Christmas" which means many Christmas Bizares and special discounts at their retail shops and some restaurants. This should be fun. I will try to remember to take pictures and post later. As you can tell I am excited .

Posted - Nov 04 2007 : 10:29:42 AM I just want to say thanks to Anne for putting this all together. We had such a wonderful time! Stuie and I found some terrific vintage Christmas lights and decorations and then there's Stuie's pig...A very flirty lady with dangly earrings. a toe ring, and a cute hat... Stu fell in love. Thanks again, Anne! We're looking forward to the next time! (I forgot my camera too..)

Posted - Nov 04 2007 : 08:42:31 AM I completely understand the difficulty of getting to a meeting on a regular basis, life just seems to get in the way. But here's an idea, how about a couple gathered up metings or Spur trips and then a monthly online meeting? Online for me is easy as I am on all day almost everyday. Plus it would be a way to really stay in touch with each other. I am glad you all had such fun.

Posted - Nov 04 2007 : 06:57:38 AM This was fun. It seems it is so hard for us to get our act together. Last time we met (almost a complete different set of girls) was two springs ago. Every time we try to do something, at the last minute everyone seems to have something going on. I wonder, how do other chapters fair? I know Patricia (utahfarmgirl) said the chapter that she has met with from Vancouver - same thing, hard to get everyone to participate. We only try for twice a year (spring and fall) because we know everyone is busy - but if you can't get a partial turn out for 2 times a year, then is it worth it? Just thinking out loud.

Posted - Nov 03 2007 : 6:22:05 PM Just got back from our outing in Silverton and what fun we had. First of all the weather was perfect - sunny, little to no wind and in the 60's. Really showed off Oregon's fall colors as we drove to Silverton. Patty Starr and Patricia Schaller (Patricia brought along her husband Stu) met at my house and from there we carpooled. First stop was the First Christian Church - where there were 22 crafters selling their wares. I got three little sheep, made out of wool with little branch like legs for my sister - who collects sheep. Patricia and Stu got a stuffed pig, complete with cute dress and earrings along with some homemade fudge. Patty picked up some dried lavender from a local farm. Then it was on to the town center, to historic water street. We stopped in a wonderful store (two story turn of the century building with 115 year old front doors) that had a coffee shop upstairs called "This is not your mamma's coffee shop". Downstairs was a section with all kinds of wonderful yarn supply in 1/2 of the store and the other had unique Christmas decor (bought my sister two mercury glass ornaments)and house items. Here we met up with Jessica and Alicia - from there it was antique and gift shops. Lunch at historic Mac's Tavern (around since 1850) for some burgers. After lunch Carla showed up from her "How to Winterize your horse class" and we continued on our tour of the historic downtown area. All in all it was fun to meet up with some new farm girls and connect with one I hadn't seen in a year. Bad thing was - I forgot the camera, once again.

Posted - Oct 25 2007 : 07:03:55 AM Oh, Anne, that sounds wonderful! How exciting that you get to "get away" for a bit, but also with farmgirls! Do take lots of photos of the town and the girls! Have a great time!
I too, am meeting a farmgirl(Frannie-Cabin Creek) tomorrow, for a lunch near my office, while she's passing through my area on the way to visit her grandkids. I'm really excited, too!
So wonderful that we've all made these intimate connections on the "worldwide web". I guess technology is good for something!!!!
