Our dog, Amber, turned 8 years old today. I remember the day that I picked her out. She was the bossiest pup in the litter. She is part Cairn Terrier and part mutt. She used to sleep on my pregnant belly (when I was expecting my first child). She doesn't like thunder, she gets panicky. But, overall she is a very low-maintenance dog, what more can you ask for? She still jumps around like Tigger, but I can definitely tell that she has slowed down as she has matured because she used to act like there were springs inside her body and she was extremely hyper. (I was more hyper too, come to think of it.) She's never been leash trained. Not for lack of taking her on a leash, it's just that she decides that she wants to walk me when we're out. She is only about 15 lbs, but she can pull like little sled dog.
I need to give her a bath. I finally found her lone tennis ball, it was out in some tall grass next to a fence. She was happy to see it.

Kind of a belated birthday wish here, but...

I also ended up with the bossiest puppy from her litter! It was a litter of Australian shepherd/Border collie crosses and the litter went one place for fostering and Kami went to another! She's got a few "siblings" and is fine with them -- most of the time. Sometimes she gives them that Border collies stare...

Amber sounds fun and quirky and very beloved. I hope she had a great birthday and has many more to come!
