I couldn't be more bummed. Jus and Violet had planned on meeting me for lunch today, for my birthday and they called a staff meeting yesterday (for TODAY--it's normally on Thursday). I'm sooooo disappointed. For 10 years I've worked here, and I can tell you how it will go:

1. Lunch is delivered. It will be from one of 3 places, that all serve the same sandwich and soup, more or less. People will voice complaints that they didn't get mayo or mustard, and that the food has "gone down hill" (and yet, we continue to order from them????)

2. We eat quietly, with little murmurs of "how's yours?" and "what did you get?"

3. We talk about some things in the media. We talk about an infamous attorney, locally, who is always a source of entertaining banter.

4. All the guys (Partners, Associates, Law Clerks) end up talking about the Cincinnat Bengals, UK and UC, while the majority of the ladies sit quietly, looking at their cuticles, with the exception of our boundariless receptionist who has no clue what she's talking about, but barges into the conversation regardless.

Lunch over.

So...I get to spend my lunchhour THAT way, instead of spending a beautiful sunny BIRTHDAY with my husband and baby girl. BUMMER!!!

But, tonight, we are "splurging", and going to see "Where The Wild Things Are", which was my favorite childhood book. Gigi (my mom) is watching Violet, so we can have a "date night" Looking forward to it!!!!

Thanks so much, Alee and Sarah--it's true, Sarah, the "Office" show is so similar to my workplace, but I do still watch it. I loved the British version...PAINFULLY embarrassing!!!!

Looking forward to the end of this work day so that I can go home, put on some jeans and be with Jus and Vi for a bit. Then to the film!!!

YOu know, I hate watching the office and my DH doesn't understand that the reason I hate watching it is beacause I LIVE IN IT EVERYDAY!!! LOL!!!

Sorry you missed your birthday lunch with Justin and Violet, but I hope you have a great "date night".

Happy Birthday Jonni!! And Happy Birthday Karin too!

Thanks, "Karin's"! And Happiest of Birthdays, birthday twin!!! You, too, have a "work birthday"! I always thought that should be one of the "perks" that employers offer you...a paid day off (in addition to vacation, sick and personal days) for your birthday!

Karin (in GA)...What sitcom...I think Seinfeld or the Office would be fitting :) I will definitely let you know what I think about the film. It was my favorite book as a child, and I think the movie just looks amazing. I love the monsters and the music--wow, sweeping and large as life. Will give you a full report ;)

Happy birthday, Jonni! Oh, and Karin, too! You lucky birthday twins. :)
Jonni- Just pretend that you're in a sitcom, the lunch is for you and block out all the negative vibes. Tonight will be better. Let me know what you think of the movie. We saw it Friday night in Imax format. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Happy Birthday, Jonni!

We're birthday twins as my birthday is also today.

I have to work and do a co-worker's job as she took this week off. ={

Hope you have a wonderful birthday and a great year to come!

Sorry about the lunch thing. :( But the movie sounds cool! I remember Doug having that book when he was little. Let us know how it was.
And tell your mom 'Hi' from me. :)
