Posted - Dec 19 2008 : 7:29:52 PM i want to share something special w/ you farmgals...i was adopted as an infant and always knew that i was adopted so that's nothing foreign to me at all......every year around my birthday my mom tells me about when she got the "call" that her baby girl was ready to be picked up..thru adoption (which was a surprise in itself, because they requested a boy)....they only had that day to get supplies & clothes ready..when they arrived, she turned back the blanket that was on my face and that was the first rememberence of me!..with red hair & chubby cheeks....even though i am a grown woman (38yrs old) i still love hearing that story...not of my birth-day, like others may get to hear, but of my "adoption-day"!! she still makes it sound soooooo exciting after all this time....p.s. recently she was digging in the attic and found the cancelled check of one of my adoption fees..bargain! $30.00 |

Posted - Dec 20 2008 : 1:28:47 PM Stacy - what a wonderful story. You are so blessed to have a wonderful mom to share that story with you.
We tried to adopt after we could have only one child (which I am so thankful we got to have). We waited four years on a list. One night at 9:30 we got a call. My husband and I both had the flu really bad, we had just moved into a house and boxes were everywhere, we had no family in town, and a 6 year old girl who also did not feel well. And we were supposed to come and get the baby that night or early the next day! And the little one had possible heart problems. After many tears and a long conversation we called and said please go to the next person on your list. It was one of the hardest decisions I ever made. I still wonder about that child, because in the brief few minutes I thought we might get her, I loved her sight unseen. I know she must be with the folks who were meant to have her.

Posted - Dec 19 2008 : 10:52:13 PM Stacy, what a sweet story. You were much loved, I can hear it in you story. I was the youngest in my family and I used to say I was adopted because that way I was chosen and my parents just had the rest. LOL MB
