ME! ME! ME! I'm celebrating my birthday on Tuesday! Honey Hunk's is June 12. Instead of going away during the week between our birthdays this year (cuz' we've both been travelling so much this year already) . we decided to each be in charge of a 'surprize' day for our OWN birthday (THAT WAY .. we know we will get to do something we each reeeeeeeeeeeeely love!)
we will get up early on our birthdays .. leave the house for the day (before breakfast) .. and drive to our 'surprize destination'
... have fun all day .. then go out to a wonderful dinner .. before heading home.
I'm going to pack a 'picnic breakfast' .. stop nearby overlooking the rolling hills of kentucky .. then drive to SHAKERTOWN and take the 'grande tour' .. have lunch at shakertown .. and dinner in the oldest town in the state of Kentucky (harrodsburg) at a beautiful olde historic inn. (ha! might find an antiques shoppe or two to stop at too!)
don't know what hank has planned .. we're not supposed to 'tell'.

thanks for all the sweet wishes gurlfrenz! well .. we got up early .. went out to 'play in the garden' for a little while and time jus' got away from us .. soooo .. i decided to put my birthday celebration off until today (june 6th) .. cuz' we really did need at least six hours plus two hours travel each way .. to do all i wanted to do.
soooooooo .. up bright and early .. gave the gardens a quick watering . .then headed for Shakertown. stopped for a lovely breakfast on the way .. then when we got there .. we took every tour .. saw every building .. it was wonderful. sooooooooo amazing the 'shaker way of living'. had a nice lunch at shakertown .. then decided to get back to a nearby town to our home for dinner and a movie.
i'm getting ready to go on a three to five day 'shopping trip' with some gurlfrenz .. and told honey hunk that i'd like LOTS OF PENNIES as a birthday present! oh yeah!!!
(we'll be hitting antiques shoppes and 'wholesale folk art shoppes' for our shoppes). sooooo excited!!
what a lovely day today was!

I hope you are enjoying Shakertown today! And dinner in Harrodsburg? Sounds wonderful. I stayed at Shakertown overnight once in the 80's. To me it was heaven on earth...the quiet. We ate at Shakertown and I loved, loved, loved the corn pudding!!

what a terrific idea! Hummmm, I just might have to borrow it for my DH upcoming b-day.
After 34 1/2 years of marriage it gets tuffer & tuffer to buy for the man of my dreams.
Let us know what goodies you find if you do stop off at an antique shop or two....& you probablly will, lucky you.
Oh,& you don't look a day over 21!!!!! enjoy your day.

Frannie..Happy Birthday for the 5th. Oh, you are going to have such a lovely day! Isn't it such fun to have a special day planned and to just keep looking forward to it!
