I have some very nice quite large chocolate mint plants, that I could swap for something else or however someone wants to do it.? I would love other perennial plant starters or seeds or whatever. I also have white Lilac starter plants. All of these already have roots. My girlfriend has sweet annie , also. So If anyone is interested, just let me know what you have .

I get a whiff of the fragrance of my chocolate mint every time I move the sprinkler . . . which I just did! So pleasant!

My mint plants are starting to leaf out. Looks like they are going to survive their journey. The Sweet Annie is hanging in there, but still looks a bit traumatized from the trip. Thanks Beverley.

Hi Sisters,
I too had a lot of chocolate mint growing. I came upon a recipe to make chocolate mint ice cream by infusing the chocolate mint in the milk for an hour before making a basic vanilla custard ice cream. The flavor was wonderful and no mint extract was needed. I did add chopped chocolate. There are many recipes on the internet you will find using chocolate mint to make ice cream with. Have fun! wow it took that long for you to get them. OMG, I did not think it would be that long. Hope they are ok? Mine are all planted too!! I kept some seeds for the spring time planting.

Sweet annie is a tall plant that replants itself with it's own seed each year. it has a sweet smell and people make it into wreaths and such things. I have some drying in my woodstove room right now. I have not tried to make a wreath as of yet but that is my thinking. you can google it and find more about it. and yes I usually put the root line, with some of the green part that is the plant in a ziploc bag with a paper towel around it all and send it first class. and there are plant places online that ship them all the time. There is nothing that could hurt anything while being mailed. the ziploc bag keeps it from leaking and keeps in moist while being sent 1st class.
and yes it makes it through the winter here and it has gone down to -20 in the winter. I have it planted in the dirt and it makes it fine. It does spread but not as much as some of the other mints. But the parts I pull up from spreading are the parts I mail. So, you should have no problem in texas growing it at all. If you want some PM with your address and what you would like to trade.

Chocolate mint survives the winters here in Texas just fine. It dies back but always comes right back quickly in the spring. I have all my mints in pots and they stay outside all winter.

I'd love some chocolate mint. Who can turn down chocolate mint? LOL! I've been told it helps keep the spiders and ants away. Is it okay to send mint through the US Mail?

Questions: Will it survive the winters here in Texas? Or does it it need a colder/longer winter than we have here? You are up in Michigan and you have worse winters than we have here in Texas.

What is Sweet Annie? Does it like sun or shade? I have plenty of both. LOL!

email me about what you might want to trade.
