Posted - Nov 15 2013 : 07:03:52 AM Does anyone out in farmgirl land have old metal or plastic small toy pickup trucks, would like red or green but will take any color you might wish to barter. I would prefer the metal ones but would take plastic as well depending on size. And they need to be just the pick up trucks.I have a project I want to do but only have one of the small trucks, matchbox use to make them in the '70's and other companies as well. I have looked at a few Goodwill and Arc Stores but without much luck, are they that popular?
Let me know and tell me what you would like to barter for the little trucks.
Thank you. Debbie Blessed in Colorado #1582 Proud Mama Hen of the Scattered Prairie Gals HenHouse

Posted - Nov 21 2013 : 09:01:18 AM Hi Debbie, After seeing the cute creations with the toys I pulled out hubby's old matchbox collection & I used florist foam to attach whatever decorations to & just slipped that into the truck box. That way they can easily be taken apart & I haven't ruined the value of them. Maybe that would work for your son's??? They're hard to find but do come up at auction here. JUST the trucks? Judy

Posted - Nov 19 2013 : 1:44:24 PM Well I looked but they didn't have any little cars or trucks. I was surprise to not see any at all. If I get to another town I'll look at their resale store. |

Posted - Nov 15 2013 : 11:03:19 AM It is a Matchbox size, but be it Matchbox, Hot Wheels or Tootsie they are just so hard to find. They are too much money on ebay and etsy and hard to find in the junk stores, I guess like everyone says they are really collectible. Oh well, it sure was fun making this one. Hugs, Debbie

Posted - Nov 15 2013 : 09:54:10 AM Okay, here is my creation, just made it. It is not much but this is why I want the old pick up trucks. This is an old Tootsie Toy Pick Up Truck from 1969. I saw these at the Country Living Fair in Stone Mountain GA last month, and I just knew I had to make some, they are just so cute, I think. Getting red and green ones for Christmas would be great.
Thanks everyone for your help. Debbie

The Mason Jar Craft site is the rage on Face Book right now,so everyone is looking for small old cars and trucks. They suggested you go to Wal-Mart or any toy store. They have retro look Matchbox cars and trucks for about 2-3 Dollars Hope this helps!!

Posted - Nov 15 2013 : 08:25:17 AM Oh thank you Annette, the matchbook size is actually the size I am looking for. I will gladly pay you for any you find. I do have my sons old matchbook trucks but I just can not bring myself to use them. He is 38 years old and when he was small he loved his cars and trucks, one day "maybe" his kids will play with them. Thank you again. Debbie

Posted - Nov 15 2013 : 08:21:45 AM The old ones are collectables so it might be easier to find newer plastic ones. I have to go to the town north of me on Tuesday so I will stop and look for you at the St.Vincent store(like a Goodwill). Is there a particular size you are looking for? |
