I was in a soap swap this summer -- my first one. It was so much fun. There were 15 gals and we each had to do 15 of the same thing worth at least $5 retail. You could do soap, lotion, whatever. It had to have a summer theme. I mailed the 15 items to the swap mom along with $8.10 for return priority postage. I got back the most wonderful things. It was like Christmas in July.

I was wondering if any of you would like to do a swap? It doesn't necessarily have to be soap -- anything handmade worth around $5 with a Fall theme. I would be happy to be the swap mom. That way we get to see the lovely talents of our Farmgirls in person!

I'd like to keep it to 10 or 15 people at the most. It would have an October 15th deadline -- you need to have your items to me by then along with $8.10 for return postage. Once I have everyone's items I will mail out the boxes.

Nance in France Posted - Nov 09 2006 : 08:39:41 AM
OOOOh wait for me! I didn't log on yesterday, so didn't get to chat with ya'll. When the box arrived Saturday, my mom was over at the house with me, and I said "Oh, you HAVE to look at all my cool farmgirl stuff!!!". She was duly impressed. Everybody is so talented and generous; I am so happy I jumped on the wagon, too! The flowerbasket goes perfectly in my bright yellow-walled bathroom, the soap smells delicious (maybe I'll dab some behind my ears!!), the neat pumpkin ornament is hanging from my dining room chandelier, the sweet little blessings pillow is hanging on the china press doorknob, the bookmark is in my Bible (looks like rue, an herb mentioned in the Bible, good job!), the dishcloth is TOO pretty to use, at least for now, so it's artfully draped on the wooden dish drainer. The lovely pincushion and acorn are in a fall display with some vintage hankies and lace, the cool potholder is gonna be inaugurated at Thanksgiving (maybe even the cookiecutter too), and the wonderful hat that actually FITS (I must have a bigger head than the average chick.....must be all those brain cells, right?) is going on my head as soon as this warm weather goes! I decided to make a farmgirl scrapbook, too, and everybody's tags are the first things to go inside. Thanks again for being such wonderful farm gal pals! Nance

Thank you, everyone--you're such a talented group! The bookmark went into my Bible that I keep in the car, the Fall Blessings pillow is hanging from the knob on my dining room corner cabinet, I'm using the dishrag as a facerag in the bathroom with the new, wonderful smelling soap, the flowers in the basket are on top of my sofa table, the wreath is hanging over my sink, the wonderful cedar stuffed acorn is in the sewing/spinning/knitting room, I'm saving the potholder & cookiecutter for the holidays, and the pumpkin ornament is hanging in the kitchen window like a suncatcher. My husband was a little envious too--now I have to make up a package & send it to him so he has a "goodie box" to open!! Thanks again!

I loved my little Fall Blessings pillow! I have it hanging from one of the doors of my hutch. And Fran's pin cushion is in with a Fall display on my dining room table along the darling little basket of dried flowers. I've already used the dish rag and the cuticle balm. The little wreath is hanging in my sewing room. The hat is being saved for colder weather -- don't want to get it wet with all the rain we've had. My bookmark is in the latest copy of The Mitford book that I'm reading. My little pumpkin ornament is hanging in my kitchen window so I can see it when I'm working. And I've used my potholder already! Hope I haven't left anyone out! I have precious Farmgirl goodies all over my house. Everywhere I look I'm reminded of the beautiful and talented friends I have from all over the country! Go to Sunshine's blog -- she has beautiful pictures posted of all the swap items.

I really liked everything too. The soap smelled good, the wreath from Nance smelled good, the pillow smelled good..I have already started using both the kitchen hand balm and the soap..everything was great, I like everything....thanks gals! I think we are a very talented bunch of gals..I looked at the items thinking..gee, if I had a home decor store..you gals would be who I'd contact for some products to help stock it.
Thanks..it was loads of fun!..even my husband was saying"gee, can I be a farmgal..you are having too much fun with that!" haha.

yes, i agree, i loved everything, and when i opened the box it smelled so good.
i thought it was the soap, which was yummy, i love soap, but the handspun, knitted hat smelled wonderful. a friend was visiting when i got the package and i squealed when the postman brought it to the door. she thought it was a birthday gift cause my birthday is in november, i said no its a farmgirl gift! really everything was wonderful, the leaf bookmark was so clever and i think it was from sunshine, right, some of my tags were mixed up, anyway, if it was from sunshine i wondered do you have redbuds in your neck of the woods, they have beautiful leaves that are heart shaped and turn bright red. i have always thougt they would be great crafted gifts at valentine day. do you want me to send you some , when they turn red?
any way i loved everything , this was my first swap and lots of fun, thanks so much.

love
