Posted - Aug 04 2006 : 1:37:39 PM I met Aunt Jenny today and we did a big 'ole hand-me-down swap!! I had a bunch of stuff for her girls (my kids have way too much in the clothes department, Grandma is a shopping machine!) Jenny brought me some stuff her youngest girl had out grown, and a bag full of boy's clothes and shoes to give to my cousin Henry....
I just love recycle-wear! Getting kids ready for school can break the bank, I am glad that our extra clothes found a new home and that Jenny shared her stuff with me! Chloe loves her new shoes!! I love the fact that we all can do something good for the environment, sweat shop workers, fuel prices, and our pocket books!!!
Recycle-wear Rocks!! Thanks Jenny
Farmgirls, share your stories about getting ready for school on a budget, or funny stories about hand-me-downs! Love and light to all Kate |

Posted - Aug 05 2006 : 04:36:42 AM You two are so smart to swap kids' clothes. I imagine your girls especially were so excited to get lots of new things all at once, Aunt Jenny. Sounds like a great day. |

Posted - Aug 04 2006 : 9:25:19 PM I am so glad that the clothes fit, and that your kids like them!! It is one thing to wear recycle-wear, wearing clothes that LOOK like recycle-wear is another thing entirely! I am so happy that you could use them....until next time. Hopefully we can all get together to go visit Libbie and her new baby in a couple of weeks. Kate |

Posted - Aug 04 2006 : 7:59:13 PM It was such a great time. We did some other stuff while we were in Provo...we don't get up that way often...didn't get home until 7pm and then the girls had to try on ALL the clothes from Kate..and there were lots...it was wonderful!!! The boys got new stuff and stuff from the thrift store today and they had all saved up two allowances and extra money to have spending money today too..it was a long long day...fun but tiring with four kids. I treated myself to some wool fabric and a new book (the new Fannie Flagg one) after all the school shopping. The hand me downs sure helped. Nearly all but the biggest jeans that you knew were too big fit Kate!! The girls are so set for school now..just a little more shopping for the boys and I am done!! Thanks so much Kate!!

Posted - Aug 04 2006 : 5:11:13 PM Yes, it was me!! I love the rugs you make, and I thought the towel rugs would be a good, inexpensive way to start.
Sorry we didn't have time to stop, my older girls got out of school at 1:25...Friday is early day. They go to year-round school.
Next time I will plan a little better, maybe we can do lunch! Kate |
