Hi All,

My daughter, will be 4 on Sept 8th and is having a tea party. As a gift we are redoing her room with a shabby chic style and are looking for cute teacups to put on a shelf over her double windows. She loves teaparties and will ask anyone to tea if they are sitting too long. Good thing Grandpa and Daddy are such good sports. I don't know if what I have to trade is interesting to anyone, lots of yarn and vintage (60's) knitting pattern books. I have lots of cute fabric that I could trade, would be good for quilters perhaps. It would really make my daughter smile...thanks

I am so glad that Maya liked the cups...and I hope many more are on their way. I love the idea of some cups from Japan! Jenn, I can send you the pink and blue set of napkins and napkin rings if you like. Just let me know.

Thank you to everyone for your kindness. Maya received the little teacups, Jo and was thrilled. We have now been scouring the antique & flea markets to find more pretty cups (she is having 10 girls) after her party we will use them to decorate her new big girl room which is shabby chic with a teacup theme. I would love japanese cups for her too, if you feel like you would like to share. Thank you!

I am using a white antique tablecloth that was given to me by my mother in law for my wedding so any napkins would work. I love that all the teacups will be different, it adds to the charm.

Hope your weather is as beautiful as ours is today in PA. 70 with a gentle breeze...it's clothesline weather.

Ohhhhh! I wish I would have read this sooner!! For some reason I thought you wanted toy size sets...Jenn I am so sorry I would loved to have sent some for her, the Japanese ones would have been perfect size!! But there is NO WAY I can get them there in time... if you need any more for decorating her room or such, please let me know!!! I would love to send her some, but they would be at least two weeks out...let me know.

I hope her party is wonderful!!! I have twin five year old girls and I know they would just LOVE something like that!!! Happy Birthday to your little one!!!

Sorry again...
Hugz!!

*** UPDATE!!! DUHHHHHH!!!! I am thinking you said AUG 8th!! I can do Sept!!! Would you like some from Japan?? Any specific colors?!? Oh and my moms B-day is the same day!! Please let me know!! I would love to send her some...they are a little different, but pretty all the same!

Jenn, do you have a color theme picked for the tea party yet? I have some pink and blue napkins, with pink and blue plastic napklin rings, if you would like them. I usually alternate the pink napkins with a blue napkin ring, and vice versa. There are pictures posted under a separate posting under the Barter thread where I was offering several placemats and napkin sets. I do not have a tablecloth to go with these napkins, but I have used them on creme, blue and white solid colors before. I can email you a picture if you prefer.

Jenn, please tell your daughter, Maya, that her first two little teacups and saucers are going out via Priority Mail today. I hope she enjoys them, and that her birthday tea party this year will be the beginning of a wonderful annual tradition.

Farmgirls; this little girl needs teacups! I have started her on enough little teacups for herself and one friend; let's make sure she has enough little teacups and saucers for everyone coming to her party. Yup, it's a farmgirl challenge! Wouldn't it be cool if our own Queen Bee sent one from MaryJanes Farm?

well honey chile .. the very next one takes place september 3/4/5 ... there are twenty of us coming and we are staying in the log cabins down by the river on the outskirts of town ... the cabins are all full now .. but .. i'll post the next time i have a gathering!

oh .. i am having a 'pot-luck' picnic gurlfren gathering august 13th with about 25 of us .. but these are local girls who will just be coming for the day. when autumn comes ... i'm sure i'll have another one ... AND .. i plan a 'biggun' the weekend of June 8/9 2007!!!

we have our 'art in the alley' festival then .. and i'm hoping to bring lots of primitive folk artist friends to town to participate and all spend some time together!

there will be more .. i love gathering with the gurlz! xo,

jenn .. when i do get into all those boxes .. i will be 'adopting' them out through my 'treasure seekers' lists .. are you on that? but remember .. i don't have one JUST for tea sets or books or anything .. it's for whatever comes up at any given time. they are all china .. soooo .. i'm a little ancie about mailing them for fear they would get broken in transit. will honestly mostly end up selling them through my booth .. or here at cabin creek when the gurlfrenz come to visit.

come on down! xoxo

Let me know if you are willing to sell any of the sets...I love the vintage stuff esp. since I am using some of the nicer cups and sets to decorate her room.

i agree .. IKEA .. has absolutely ADOREABLE tea sets for little girls .. about the best i have found (other than vintage!!!) you can often find these at antiques shoppes ... and if handled gently .. they are wonderful because your children's children will someday use them for their own tea parties.

also look for little 'demi-tasse' cups at flea markets and thrift stores .. they can often be bought for just a couple dollars for a set of four.

i have hundreds of vintage tea sets that i have used over the years for children's tea parties .. but haven't opened all the packed boxes they are in ... honestly don't need to trade for anything (except vintage 1800's homespun, oh boy!!!) i am always on the lookout for that for my rag dolls that i make.

I'm not sure if you have a local place where you can paint your own tea cups, but I know here in Moscow and in Spokane there are places where you can go and pick a piece of pottery and then paint it then they will fire it for you. That might be fun for her to have a tea cup she painted or one she painted with you!! What a cute bed room idea!!

Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it.....unless they are spelling mistakes.

Thanks for great suggestions. I did see the birthday express, paint for own tea set...we are gonna use it as a party favor that the kids can do and then take home.

you also might want to check out Oriental Trading company online, under crafts. I think they had a paint your own tea set.
