so i decided that i want to make all of the christmas presents i give this year, & one of the ones i decided on for my brother & his girlfriend is i want to make them each a homemade candle in their favorite scent.

so my first question is - how hard are candles to make?
if it's not that hard, how much are materials?

thanks!

I have ordered several products from this company--and they have excellent starter kits. If this is your first time making candles, I highly encourage making an investment in good materials and quality instructions. If you look at the candle making kits, it is a bit of money, but it works out to be 22 candles with a cost of around $3/each (plus labor). Think of how many gifts you'd have ready! and the scents they are including sound yummy.

I'd be careful with using home materials for your first time--candle making is a craft that does require careful science.

Blessings as you undertake this! making candles is so much fun!

Amelia I've made tons of candles over the years and they are pretty cheap to do depending on what you use for a mold, I just use things I have around the house. For coloring I have always used crayons and for scents I have used perfume that I have on hand. For a melting pot I use a coffee can that I bent a spout on. Really is can be very simple.

HI Amelia- Although I cant answer your question, you would be better finding someone who can if you post this under maybe "accros the fence" thread. Not sure anyone will see it here that will be able to help you.
Good Luck!
