Okay, this is the same collector's forum but on this one, so we don't lose track of anyone and can easily access information, let's keep it simple.
Go on here and post up to five small things you collect - No need to list any other information unless it relates directly to the individual item (for example, if you collect only off-white buttons say off-white buttons) - any other stories etc., we can chat about privately via email if we like - when someone on the list has something for you, they can then just email you privately for your address.
Simple.... I will make the first posting.
Happy hunting everyone!
By the way - the first teacup and saucer leave for Virginia tomorrow!

Well, this is very interesting and fun. Here is my list:

1. old linens (dresser scarves, doilies, hankies, tableclothes, fabric & trims)
2. vintage aprons (full or half)
3. old books (text books, how-to's, hymnbooks, etc.)
4. Kitchen utincels with the red and white handles
5. Pictures of barns (take one of yours and sign it, what a great photo album it will be with all of my farmgirl's barns)
6. old bottles (particularly tonics, medicine, baby or kitcheny stuff) I apologize, I have to add this, I haven't added to my collection in a very, very long time and this seemed the perfect place to resurrect that collection.

That's all for me. Good idea to take the lists with you to yard sales, I'm going this weekend, hopefully I'll find some things for you's.

Lets see..
I don't really collect a lot of things but here are a few.

Copper Lustre- I collect the pieces from the mid to late 1800's
Roosters- I just love them. My house is very french country.
blue pottery-I have lots of pottery in different colors but I prefer blue.
milk bottles- I just started collecting them but I sure love the ones that I have.

I have really enjoyed reading what everyone collects.

Hi everyone! I am new to MaryJanes's site, but have been reading for days, catching up on things, and finding where I actually fit in. But as far as collecting, well I'm big into Strawberries! I have 56 different strawberry cookie jars, everything strawberries. I love dishes, bowls, but mostly cookie jars. My business name has strawberries, my studio has strawberries, and I think they are beautiful, and make me happy! I make quilts with strawberries, pillow cases with strawberries, and I grow strawberries. I also collect strawberry jars for growing them! All sizes. This has been a love of mine since the late 60's - early 70's. I collect old emery's that are in the shape of strawberries, hanging off old pin cushions. So if you see a cookie jar of one - think of me. Or even let me know - I might want to buy it! :>)

I also love old sewing items. Since I'm a quilter, sewing needs are always on my mind. I also have several old Singer sewing machines. Pincusions are also a great find! Or old sewing and button boxes!

Well enough from me - thanks for sharing all your collections!

Have a great weekend!

How can I ever keep this list to five things?

Old linens of all sorts (quilts, aprons, doilies, hankies, table cloths)
Old Kitchen stuff (utensils, bowls, china, cookie cutters)
Old photographs (just about any era) and camera equipment
Old prints, lithographs (especially love the Jesus ones)
Anything old to do with sewing or embroidery (treadle machines, thread spools, etc.)
Old Christmas decorations...they are so sparkely and fun!

okay I went one over...but this is not easy!

What would I do if I did not collect stuff? I would have nothing to dust!

Gals, if you should change what you are collecting, just go back in and edit your original posting and then post a quicky note that something has changed. For instance, I took something off mine and added vintage sheets (bed) with pink roses - any size fine.

oh what fun .. (if we're compiling this list for 'swaps' .. i'll list things that you don't have to mortgage the farm for!) been trying to 'simplify' to 'civil war era' treasures .. and things that i 'use' ... but i still have my eye out for:

(1) snippets of very olde homespun fabric

(2) bits and pieces of original olde tattered american flags (the more unusual and interesting the fabric it was made from .. the more i smile!)

(3) (HAVE ENOUGH OF THESE NOW!!) olde glass milk bottles .. they hafta' be clean and not too scratched .. cuz' i use them for 'drinking' glasses.

O.K. ... EDITING HERE ... FOUND TWO MORE GREAT OLDE MILK BOTTLES IN MY VERY OWN BOOTH TODAY WHILE WANDRING AROUND GLOVER'S STATION!!! I NOW HAVE 8 .. WHICH IS PROBABLY 'NUFF .. CUZ I HAVE 18 OF THOSE REEEEEEEELY CUTE 1950'S GLASSES WITH FLOWERS ON THEM IN THOSE CUTE LITTLE HOLDER RACKS.

SOOOOOOOOOO .. I'M CHANGING NUMBER (3) TO:

(3) Country Living Magazines that Cabin Creek Farm appears in.

(4) wonderful unusual ANTIQUE spoons .. 'specially big-bowl ones!

(5) olde lithographs (or pictures .. but olde ones) of FARM life.

... gotta' add 'nuther one here! NEW FRIENDS! always on the lookout for gurlfrenz to add to my ever-widening wonderful 'circle of friends'.

I am editing my reply because I listed things I collect in general, most of them being too big for this list.

Turn of the century post cards (1905-1920), especially real photo
vintage aprons
antique sewing utensils, like needlecases and thimbles, etc.
hand-thrown pottery mugs
small baskets

Okay, that's five!
