Does anyone have comfrey leaves I can use to make comfrey tea to fertilize my garden? In return I will send you a lil something from CA!

Hello, I am a new farmgirl as of a week ago ( 1660 )and I am trying to find my way around. I completed an herbalist schooling course last year and I used Comfrey for many teas, salves etc and healed my animals as well. I don't have the plants but the dried leaves work well. |

I was told to put leaves in the rows with the potatoes. The leaf fertilizer is suppose to be real good for tomatoes and potatoes. I am trying it out this year. Vicki |

Lori... I don't think it was me. I just sent out roots a month or so ago. =)
You can divide it EASY-PEASY!!! Just dig at the root base and that's enough! You only need to plant a little bit of root to get alot of plant!!!
Love my comfrey. So thankful to have it in the backyard!

Comfrey is the most wonderful herb
I dont have any growing now my patch
got ruined hoping to move soon then
will resetablish a patch. I have always
used it for poultices and putting in herbal
salves I make. it is wonderful for any kind
of wounds. I hae fixed up spraind ankles many
times and a couple were pretty bad ones.
It was always in my medicinal supply.
I need to find my recepie for herbal salve i
have easy to make you cant go wrong.. and it is
the best stuff i have ever used for any skin or
wound problem.

Angie did you send me some comfrey a year or so ago? I forgot the farmgirls name but I remember the return address was in Maryland. If it was you I need to thank you again. I love my comfrey and would love to have more of it. A friend of mine really wants some but I am not sure how to divivde mine.
A fellow rabbit breeder told me about comfrey and said I should grow some. We give a leaf or two to our rabbits because it is very high in protein and b vitamins. I also made a healing salve that up until recently I was only using it on fever blisters and severly chapped lips.
A month ago my husband was mowing the lawn and ran out of gas. While he walked back to the garage to get the gas can my 2 yo put the back of his hand on the lawn mowers muffler to see if it was hot. Well it burned him bad very very bad! My husband rushed him inside and ran cool water over it as I grabbed a leaf from our aloe plant. After putting aloe on it I smeared some of the healing balm I had made onto it out of desperation. I thought that if it didn't help we would get him to the Doctor ASAP. I am happy to say that the healing balm worked miracles!!!!! He was playing in the sand box minutes later and never cried that it hurt. We kept the burn open to the air and rubbed the balm on it several times a day. I actually found my son in the sand box with a jar of it playing and rubbing it on his hand. I did get worried about it getting infected and switched to neosporin one day but my son cried that his hand hurt so we went back to the comfrey balm and no more pain at all. His burn never got infected and healed nicely although it did scar. Everyone was amazed that he was playing like usual after such a bad burn. My neighbor told me that when she was little she had cut some of her fingers off in a farm accident and the doctors rubbed a numbing cream on her hand 3 times a day at the hospital. When her mom asked what was in the cream the nurse said comfrey.
The healing balm I made was very easy and will always be a part of my medicine chest!!
I used:
local beeswax (unprocessed cappings with propolis and small amounts of honey)
comfrey leaves and lemon balm infused grapeseed oil
mango butter
shea butter

Comfrey is a weed to most people because it is like mint and loves to escape and take over. I use it for an general-purpose healing herb. It is wonderful. You can use the leaves to compost down into a tea and use the tea water on your garden. It's supposed to be wonderful. I don't know yet, because I just used my first batch of tea the other day and the jury is still out.
