Please forgive me if this topic is listed somewhere and I was just too excited to find it, could someone please point me to the general rules for swaps and barters? Do each pay postage on their end? Any and all "rules" would be appreciated. I love the idea of a swap, and love this board from the day I found it, which was actually just 1 week ago.

Inge,
I would just reiterate what Robin and Julie have said . . . If you wish to host a swap you decide what that will be and set the signup deadline, the mail-by date, the specifics for that swap. Typically, postage is paid by each sender. In some barter cases, a person may have sometime to barter and just want postage paid to send it to them, nothing else in return. It just depends.
If you look around you'll probably see that SWAPS are usually a bunch of us doing exactly that . . .SWAPPING. . one for one (or whatever).

BARTERS are more likely to be individuals with something they have they wish to no longer own and will barter something someone else has for it. BARTERS are typically one-on-one and it's just between the two of you.

SWAPS generally involve a group of us on the same "mission".
Hope that helps . . . they are usually a ton of fun!!!
Just email if you have any other questions. (You email by clicking on the forum name of whoever you wish to communicate with in the left column . . .it will open up a profile box, then you click on the "email" option and that will open up an email box . . . viola!)
WELCOME TO FARMGIRL!!!!!!!

Each host usually sets her own rules for the swap or barter.

Read the swap issue that needs to be addressed thread. Mostly the rules will be stated in each swap. Start posting and getting involved and folks will help you through it. If you have specific questions, ask the swap hostess and they are always happy to explain more! Welcome to the board.
