Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 3:16:56 PM Can anyone make me something like this and I will barter something? It's a cute take on the goofy fanny pack -- this is just so expensive. Maybe it will inspire one of you etsy sellers to create something at a more decent price?

Posted - Oct 02 2009 : 8:03:55 PM I agree HeatherAnn ;-) I love this idea! You and I could wear these out together years from now and at least we'll still know what we're talking about! I'm totally going to try to make one of these!

Posted - Sep 30 2009 : 06:58:03 AM thanks for posting this! All my creative wheels are turning... I will stash this idea away and make it when I have less on my plate :) but, the idea is planted! someday, when I give it some sunshine, it will grow. and then, I'll post about it. even if it's years later and no one has any idea what i'm even talking about :)

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 7:52:57 PM She became a teacher there so I wouldn't be surprised if they knew her. Wow, that would be a small world. lol.
I am eventually planning a Texas Farmgirl gathering at my mom's property "Butterfly Hill" in Rosharon, so you will definitely be invited (all you girls are!) ... maybe we'll do these kind of projects here.
Wow, this is going so off-topic. LOL!!

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 7:45:54 PM Well my hubby's realitives were very popular also in the very early days in Alvin. It would be very interesting to get together to see if they had known one another. it's a small world. We should get together and come up with some creativity. Laurie

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 7:39:43 PM Laurie, I love Alvin. My Nanny and family lived there for years on years. She was supposedly very popular there way back when (early 20th century) I'd love to have one of those old houses there. :) It runs in the blood I guess.
I'd love to see yours (and all of you!) and see what we come up with and what creativity and where it goes!

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 7:34:57 PM Hey gals that looks fairly easy. I've been sewing for over 50 years. I might be able to make up a pattern up and use the sash idea. Love the idea Brooke. Make some really nice gifts for Christmas. Laurie

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 6:57:11 PM I was thinking about this on my walk tonight...I am going to try and hammer out a workable pattern. I like aprons, but something smaller like this would be great for my cell phone, a pad and paper, a pocket for this and that's...kinda like a amped up waitress' apron. Such inspiration!!! : )
Of gosh...don't tell me the Junk Gypsies are at it again...I LOVE LOVE LOVE them!! Might have to add that as a Christmas present!!! Means I have to go leave their homepage open...hint hint...lol...

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 6:44:10 PM I have a feeling it's similar to the ties like a sash that is shown - but I don't see why it couldn't be made like apron strings.
Let me try to put my thinking cap on and see if I can't come up with something similar and maybe I can actually make it myself. :) I think I am going to put this thread over in the stitchin' room with the pictures!

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 6:33:59 PM oh my gosh!! What a super cute idea. I have been looking for a purse that goes around the waist.. but not your ordinary fanny pack..hhmm I am not super creative but its sounds interesting to try..
Did anyone say for sure what this picture uses as the "tie"?? But i sure like the idea of making it similar to apron strings.
I look forward to seeing someone's own creation. |

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 5:15:56 PM Heather - good idea! That could be done... I was thinking of mine more like a belt ... I am going to try and maybe sit down and do this myself..I probably should move this to the stitchin' room .. lol

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 5:10:26 PM Could you just make the strings like apron strings??? They would be sturdy enough.

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 4:32:28 PM LOL. That's not my waist in the photos here.... or did you see my waist?! I worked hard for it. LOL. I lost 85 lbs for it! But I wish I had THAT GIRL'S waist! LOL!
My guess it ties around with a sash. That's how I would make it, I'm sure.

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 4:23:55 PM Hi Brooke, how does it attach around the waist? Is it a tie sash or one of the plastic clip in snaps? I want your waist. Can we trade for that?? LOL

Posted - Sep 29 2009 : 3:50:26 PM Actually, if no one wants to, I will attempt to make it myself. ROTFL!! The more I sit here looking at it, the more I think i COULD do it with the scraps of lace and things I have... So if _I_ do, Heather, after I make mine, I will try and make one for you..if I do ...Actually, this is something I could sell in my own etsy shop. *sticks foot in mouth(if that's the correct saying)*
