I know this is a little odd, but a book I recently purchased as a "thank you" gift for someone, is missing the most pertinent pages. It's called "The Mushroom Feast" by Jane Grigson. It was printed in 1975. The missing pages were actually never there, it looks as if the book was misprinted and bound without them. (This could be why it finally ended up at Half Price Books!) Of the missing are pages 1-10 of the chapter "The Best Edible Mushrooms". It felt very fateful when I found the book, because there couldn't be a more perfect gift for this person. She & her husband were very good to us on a recent trip to Boston. While we were there we learned that she is part of a Mushroom Club, where they hunt, study & learn to identify mushrooms. It was fascinating to hear her talk about it, all the while her DH muttering "she's trying to poison me with mushrooms. If I go down, call the authorities" (said of course with a smile and a deep undercurrent of love-filled razzing.) Anyhow, I was so proud to have found this book, as was my DH that I had stumbled upon it. A few days later we were laughing about what to write on the inside cover, coming up with all kinds of anticdotes about how this book is for both of them because now she won't poison him. Then I notice the missing pages, which makes it even more perfect! They are the pages that contain drawings, and explanations of which mushrooms are edible. Ramble ramble. I figured if anyone on earth would have this book, it would be a farmgirl....so, if anyone does have it, I am wondering if you would mind photocopying the above mentioned pages & mailing (or emailing or faxing) them to me? I have all kinds of things to trade for them, and would of course reimburse you for the postage.
Lots of Love!
J

Oh, good! I'm so glad someone's library has this - I looked, and our little one does not "Feast" on mushrooms!

Hi, My husband taught mycology for years and I thought we might have that book but we don't but our little library does. If you still need the pages e-mail me your address and I'll send them off. JoAnn

I'll keep my eyes open for it next time I'm at the library - if they have it, I'll copy the pages for you...
