Just wanted to pass this on...

I have been having trouble lately with packages making it to their final destinations. I understand that others are having similar troubles as well. I know in these times we are all pinching our pennies, but I am highly recommending that when you ship for a swap or barter, spend the $ on delivery confirmation. It seems a shame that the best postal service in the world can't get stuff where it needs to go without it, but the $$$ is worth the peace of mind.

you can use paypal shipping feature also...most my del con is 18 cents or free ( for priority mail). It doesnt have to be for a paypal purchse ...works like the usps one maggie was talking about. You do need to be able to weigh your package also. Your mail carrier will take your box for you also and mail. I use the paypal shipping unless i am out of ink . If your package is under 13 ounces and thin ( like in an envnelope) you can put them in a mailbox to send out. I dont know what has been up with post office lately..but a letter from florida took 11 days to get to me recently. .

I would highly recommend using shipping assistant as Maggie said or going online and you can print a label and pay for postage! It saves money to pay online! The only thing for the labels is that the package has to be at least as big as a 1/2 sheet of paper! It will tell you though everywhere your package is received in transit!

Ann, Your box arrived in Yorkville,IL at 9:02 this morning!

In a way, I wish the post office would just tell us that to mail a letter, it costs $1.17. This is the true cost.

I use delivery confirmation on all my packages and have for quite some time.
It costs .95 cents for priority and .75 for everything else.
It is worth the money for the peace of mind.

thanks! Usually our postmistress is too busy chatting with us that when we mail a pkg she just puts my card through and doesn't skip a beat. . .I'm surprised she doesn't know my pin by now :) but we love her!

delivery confirmation is usually 75 cents..you then get a little piece of paper that has a tracking number on it that you can enter in the computer at usps.com to track the package/date of delivery.

When you go to the PO, they always ask a whole bunch of questions, like "is it liquid, fragile or perishable?" Then, when you tell them how you want to send it (First Class or Priority), they usually ask if you'd like delivery confirmation. If they don't ask you, you ask them. At our PO, there is a little work table at the back, and in the little slots of the table are some delivery confirmation slips. You can just pull one out and put it on your package yourself also.

I use shipping assistant - which is afree program you can download from the USPS, and even though i don't pay postage online, I do get free edelivery confirmation with each label - just another option for you all to know about! :)

Katie, isnt' that ridiculous the package took so long? That is SO unusual. I would have expected it to be to you in 2 days!!! SIlly....

I am going to start using this as well. I use to use it all the time but got out of the habit. It is a real peace of mind and you hold the USPS accountable for your special things.

Delivery confirmation is a great help -- I just completed a trade with Maggie, in Iowa, and she used delivery confirmation. I could see that the package was sent on Jan 27 -- and though she sent it Priority Mail, it took 8 days to reach me. It was so reassuring for me to be able to check the progress of the package. I don't ususally use D.C. with my trades, but am thinking I should. And I think if you send Priority Mail and print out your postage online, delivery confirmation is free. That's what I do when selling on Ebay.

Anyway, lots of words to say: use Delivery Confirmation!

It is a great idea. I always use it. Nothing like peace of mind in knowing that what you sent got to where it was supposed to go.

I agree! And it usually only costs a little over a dollar.
