I need to make some covers for the carriers for our little bunnies, and am looking for an old bedspread. You know the kind from the 70's type - it has patterned fabric on top and a thin layer of some type of batting, and it's then quilted. I don't need any old quilts (I'd be afraid to cut them up), and while I thought about making and quilting my own (too expensive and time consuming), I really just need one of those bedspreads to chop up to make the two carrier covers. I have searched our thrift stores over and over and no one has any. I would like to get a full or queen size, but would also take 2 twins.

I knit, crochet, and sew. I have several projects going on for swaps right now that I'd be happy to make one or two more of in exchange for the bedspread. I'd also be happy to make a special event gift for a someone special.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks KTL!

Alee, I already checked at JoAnn's. I thought of them first because a few years ago, I bought a whole bunch of the prequilted stuff (and it was nice quality, too) for only $2.99/yd. The leser quality stuff they have starts $6.99/yard and up (the stuff I really liked was $24.99/yd ouch!). When I looked at all the material I would need to make two (and now we are getting a dog in the spring but don't tell my kids, so three) of them, it was ridiculous. It would just be cheaper to find a bedspread at a thrift or through freecycle/barter. I hate to sound so cheap, but I really didn't want to spend more than $10 if I had to. Since color doesn't really matter, the bedspread seemed the way to go.

I'll start looking some more online - maybe I can find something there...

Also there is pre-quilted and batted fabric at any fabric store that you can buy by the yard!

Update, Ann:

Went to Sal army but no quilted bedspreads. They were kinda thin on all bedding. Could be they are clearing out and bringing in the 'new' soon. Lots of furniture, though. I missed an small antique oak desk, $15, by mere minutes!!

Anyway -- another thought: Sometimes Target has quilted throws deep discounted in January or February -- 75% or more off. I have a quilted throw from a few years back which belongs to my cats -- so I wash it frequently -- and even though it's made in India, it really is holding up. If I see them, I'll give you a heads up so you can scout them out locally.

I'll check at the Salvation Army thrift on Friday, Ann. I do see those occasionally.

I've looked and they don't have any - one of the workers didn't even understand what I was talking about.
