I know this is kind of a long shot, especially since they can be a pricey item, but just in case anyone has some sitting in their basement or attic just waiting to be eaten up by moths. . .My husband really needs a new (to him!) pair of wool pants, kind of thick (not like suit pants). He likes to wear wool for hunting and ice fishing, etc. and his current ones are very threadbare and have been patched beyond what they should have! His size is 32 waist, but anything larger would be fine too, as I can take them in/fit them to him.

I could barter or pay (within reason) if anyone has something of the sort just taking up room in their house! I've been looking at Goodwill for a couple of years to no avail, so . . .

Thanks and hope I'm not overstepping by asking for something "big"

I start looking in Athens. We also have a Army, Navy surplus store. I will check there. I have some wool cloth about 7 yards, how are you at making mens pants?

I have checked all the thrift shops near me sand was very surprised to not find ANY wool pants. It has been especially cold this winter, maybe that is why.

Shelia, I don't think I would have any luck finding wool pants in the desert, but I did find this site that has them for a reasonable price compared to other places! http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=390046 Okay, here is another pair at the same place http://www.swisslink.com/products/product.php?id=170

Sheila,
I have seen wool pants at the thrift store too so I will watch for some for you. Thanks for the size so I will know what to look for. I don't go there too often but it is usually especially good shopping just after Christmas. Hope the farmgirls out there are able to help you find some. We have to keep our hubby's happy and warm.

Not that I know of. This is pretty much a farming area. There IS an air force base about an hour and a half away, but we don't get down that way usually.

Do you have an army surplus type store in your area? We usually get wool pants for winter camping, etc from that sort of place, and not too expensive.

Heavy wool pants are quite common here, I will check the thrift stores next time I go to town....

I've been looking at our two thrift stores for several years (Goodwill and Lutheran Center) but haven't found a single pair. Maybe a difference is that you live in WA and we're in OH. (NY transplants, can't give up that playing in the outdoors all winter!!) We've found that not too many Ohioans around us at least enjoy the outdoor winter weather! Their loss, I suppose!

Have you checked your thrift stores? I see heavy wool pants there all the time. JoAnn
