I have a "Reader's Digest Back to Basics Book" that I'd like to trade for a book on Organic Gardening or a book about Heirloom Gardening...or to trade for some heirloom vegetable and flower seeds.
---------------------
"Back to Basics is a book about the simple life. It is about old-fashioned ways of doing things, and old-fashioned craftsmanship, and old-fashioned food, and old-fashioned fun. It is also about independence, the kind of down-home self-reliance that our grandparents and great-grandparents took for granted, but that we moderns often think has vanished forever, along with supermarket tomatoes that taste good, packaged bread that does not have additives, and holidays that are not commercialized."

This book contains step-by-step instructions for all the listed topics, lots of pictures, complete diagrams.
Here's a partial list of topics covered in Back to Basics:

Land: Buying It -- Building on It; Developing a Water Supply; Alternative Energy Sources; Fences; Raising Your Own Vegetables, Fruit and Livestock; Beekeeping, Fish Farming; Enjoying Your Harvest The Year Round; Skills and Crafts for House and Homestead; Recreation at Home and in the Wild. And much more!

Glad you got the book! I had gone to Books a Million and found a copy of the book and didn't look inside cause I wanted to surprise myself..ha then when I got home with that one and another..I was looking at my new copy of Back to Basics and said "ya know..this looks just like another book I have but a different cover"..ha..So yep..that's why I had a second copy.
Anyhow....your book hasn't arrived here yet but I expect it should get here by Monday or Tuesday.

Tina,
I'll trade you an organic gardening book for that one. I have a very nice Rodale's successful organic gardening printed in 1993 with a list price of 14.95. Does this sound like a good trade? It's full of color pictures and color drawings. Lots of instuctions for just about every kind of veggie. Let me know if you are intersted!!

Thanks,

My husband and I already have 2 copies of this book, so I don't need one. But I just want to let everyone know what a Wonderful book it is. Lots of great information.
