for a Model 201-2 Singer machine - early 1950's. I'll barter, or pay cash if it's not too spendy. Anybody have one or know where I can get one? Thanks!

Glad you girls can get the vintage Singers working again. I just love my 301 -- it hasn't given me a bit of tempermental behavior since I got it last year.

My husband FOUND an old Brother sewing machine and brought it home -- it's missing the bobbin case and I think the place that has the power cords also has the bobbin case I need. And then I'll be able to sew two projects at once, right? With two machines?

I have a vintage singer and need the same cord! It's been down on my craft table for 6 months with no power cord! I'm so glad you put this topic on here, I didn't even think about asking the farmgirls here about it!

Hi Sherri -- I have a Singer 301 and it has a power cord that comes off the right side of the machine like yours should. Doesn't look to me like that foot control/power cord combo is what you need. . . . I'd try ebay or the Singer site.

Oh, I found this doing a google search: http://74.125.45.104/search?q=cache:gOSuwn_KZTYJ:sewingmachine221sale.bizland.com/store/page47.html+singer+201+power+cord&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=us

There's a single lead power cord just past the belts -- looks like it might be what you need?

I tried the sew4less site - and I found this---
http://www.sew4less.com/product/2262/Foot_Control_with_Lead_CordFC_704NS_Cord_123_714179_001_781Click_for_model_info
but I don't know if that will work or not. Mine has a foot control already wired in through the cabinet and this is a foot contro/power cord. Does anyone know if this will work for me? I tried to ask the lady on the phone at sew4less, but we had a definate communication problem - she couldn't understand what I was asking and just kept repeating - this is all we have!! If someone has one of these machines maybe you can understand what I'm asking?!?....

Bonne, That is a good point! My husband has rewired 2 of my older machines! If you have someone who knows how to do it, it's pretty easy considering a lot of the older stuff was made so it could be repaired!

I would want to go with a new cord~(the site Monica gave)Most of the vintage ones are brittle and therefore a fire hazard unless you want to repair it.

Thanks so much Monica. Here is a picture of the machine

And here is the socket that the power cord is supposed to plug into.

Any help I can get, I appreciate! I can't wait to try it out!

Sherri, they have cords at www.sew4less.com that I think would go to your machine! I will keep an eye out for one! There is a thrift store in town and if they get machines that don't work a lot of the time the guy will save the parts and cords so I will try to check with him! Could you post a picture of where the cord connects to the machine!
