Back up for sale or (now) for barter: This cute little vintage baby bonnet! $10 including shipping -- or let's barter!! Let me know if you're interested. I'm looking for vintage linen teatowel, vintage tablecloth or fabric, a bit of rickrack or other vintage trim, or some interesting paper ephemera -- old ledgers, vintage flashcards. I'm pretty easy to please! So let's talk!

*************************************

This little vintage baby bonnet is made from a linen hankie with crochet edge -- it is folded here and there and transformed with a couple of well-placed stitches into a bonnet, with satin ribbon ties.

It comes with a typewritten poem about the hankie protecting the head of a little one and then one day becoming the wedding hankie for a bride. Very sweet -- vintage -- found it at an estate sale. Clean and lovely -- kept in a box. The poem was typed on white stationery and rolled up in the box.

I'd thought about making bonnets like these and selling them, accompanied by the poem. Maybe that's something you would like to do? Or you have a new baby in your life to gift the bonnet to?

Offering the bonnet and poem for $10, including shipping. Or BARTER!!

Let me know if you are interested!

My Grandma (who has now passed) use to make these for every new baby. Both my boys have them and wore them on there christings. I have them saved with the poems for there wedding days, my grandma hand wrote both there notes. My younger son's hankie is from Japan that my uncle got while there in the Navy!! These always make everyone cry at a Baby shower!
