Posted - Jul 16 2008 : 04:26:54 AM Is there anyone interested in an vintage Singer buttonhole maker? It attaches to a Singer machine and is from 1948. All the parts are there and it is in a green case with the manual. Would be nice for a collector. I am giving this away so who ever is interested let me know, you can send something in trade if you would like.

Posted - Jul 18 2008 : 5:21:56 PM I checked the attachment boxes for my 301 and 500 and found no quilting guides. No tuckmarker, either. I guess by the 1950s women weren't doing quilts or putting tucks in clothes so Singer eliminated those items from the attachment sets.

Posted - Jul 17 2008 : 12:39:20 PM Thanks, Judith! I have a wish-list of attachments, and I really really want a quilting guide attachment for my slant-shank. Maybe I'll get one on ebay (after first selling a few things on ebay myself!). It helps to know what I should be looking for.

Posted - Jul 17 2008 : 12:09:09 PM If you have a slant-shank Singer keep your eyes peeled for the buttonholer in the dark red case. I think mine was less than $10 and is worth every penny. Those old buttonholers make the best buttonholes.

Posted - Jul 16 2008 : 9:26:37 PM I would love to have the botton hole attachment. My mothers Singer is what I learned to sew and have just recieved the machine from father after 25 years of begging and pleading. I will be happy to pay for shipping or for the attachement. |

Posted - Jul 16 2008 : 7:35:30 PM If it is in the green case it won't fit a slant-shank machine but will fit any low-shank machine like the Singer models 15, 27, 28, 66, 99, etc. and probably older machines of many other manufacturers, too, as long as the feet attach on the side.
