Posted - Jul 15 2008 : 09:28:57 AM so glad you said this, because i too sometimes smell the gulf here in north texas when the wind or breeze is just a certain way from the south. also during this time we will get an influx of laughing gulls. which really makes me long for the gulf coast. my mom died about 5 years ago, so i dont make my winter trips home anymore to stay with her, i have a sister in houston, well, right now she is living in banghkok and her daughter lives around kemah so i do get to run down there, but it is long overdue. i never went to rockport but have always heard wonderful things about that little town, even as a little girl.

Posted - Jul 15 2008 : 07:40:21 AM Thank you, ladies, for all your replies. I was sitting outside here in Middle TN yesterday where we live. We were having a day of cooler temps and there was a very nice breeze blowing. Suddenly as the wind blew, I got a whiff of the coast and just closed my eyes, smiled, and saw it in my mind. AHHHH!!!!!!
I was born in Panama City, FL, at the Air Force base there, but grew up in Ingleside, TX, which is very near Port Aransa, Rockport, and Corpus. I have an aunt and uncle and a cousin that still lives in the area there.
Have a great day, everyone!

Posted - Jul 13 2008 : 5:25:50 PM hi, i grew up in galveston county in a small town about 15 min. drive to the beach. i have been "inland" for for over 35 years, and i still miss the gulf coast. the water, the food and the folks. just friday, my dh and i were doctoring our goats early in the morning and the breeze here was coming from the south and i told him i am so homesick for the gulf of mexico. i hope we get to make a trip down there soon. oddly enough i have never been to corpus, but i have heard really nice things about it.
